I really do not like to criticize about other countries and/or their governance but I just cannot understand this recent atrocity committed by a country on an individual citizen of repute.
Shirin Ebadi, winner of the Nobel Peace medal in 2003 for her efforts in promoting democracy, had her reputed medal, her Legion of Honor and a ring awarded to her by a German association of journalists confiscated from her safe deposit box. On top of that, the government also froze her bank accounts, in what seems to be how the present government is cracking down on their political rivals.
I can understand Iran, as a country that has gone through so much and is at a rebuilding stage. However, I just cannot come to terms here at what they are doing this very minute. I am aware that politics can be a "dirty" game but I just cannot take it when it is actually hitting below the belt. It is just not fair and downright despicable here.
Care to air your views here. If there are any Iranians here, please contribute as well. Sorry if you find this post offending, but this is something I cannot watch sitting down.

What is the use of freedom if the slaves of today shall be the tyrants of tomorrow?
Any government for that matter should recognize the underlying tone of those words. That's one reason why people on power go to extreme measures to preserve their status in order to minimize the atrocities that may be committed by the next in line.
I do not favor the unfair treatments of political rivals. I also condemn more the unfair practices of those who are still on the business end of their rifles.
When will it end? Ask Bob Dylan, he has the answer.
