Rerun time of year, again

It seems to me that they didn't used to run only reruns this time of year but only started in the last few years. Now it looks like there will be no new episodes for almost all the shows untill January at least. Some will be much later, like "V" which I think they said would be back on March 10.

I like watching reruns generally due to the fact that I often can't watch the shows properly in their normal schedule and this way can get caught up and for me it is new shows, which is fun in summer as I normally have time off. Now in winter it may work, as a lot of people don't go out as much, even if just because of the weather, this may spark interest in shows that are on rocky ground and get more viewers, Seinfeld did that way back when - they were nearly cancelled in their 3rd year or so(mentioned in their DVD) and in reruns they had huge fan following which got them going. I still find it weird that the time of year with a near captive audience, is used for reruns, maybe it's cheaper for the networks.

Yes, V is being preempted for the Olympics, which means all the other ABC show will be too probably. I know that a new episode of House comes on Monday, but technically that is the last day of November, so yes, I guess we won't be getting any new episodes. Although, recent shows that have been canceled are going to be burning off all their new and unaired episodes. Shows like Dollhouse on FOX.
