i have been into teaching english course few years ago. and i was happy to have the chance to improve my english from speaking to writing. then i use it most of the time that i even decided to use in communicating with our daughter instead of our local language. but when i went abroad for another work, i couldn't apply my correct grammar and pronunciation because the local people where i am now will never understand what i am saying. they would even correct me by saying the same word with their own style or perhaps with what they have learned form their teachers who may happen to also not really good in english. so, i have to destroy my skills at some point in order to be understood. otherwise, i will end up screwed as if talking to myself.

Well, i can not say that i write and speak English fluently. I think to be able to do that we should start learning the language from early childhood. Some schools does not really teach proper English especially in the remote areas where some teachers came from low quality schools. Spell and grammar check in computers is a good help but not very accurate sometimes. It is also good to preview discussions and responses before posting, but sometimes we are so excited and we post responses immediately.

As a non-native English speaker, I do make some mistakes, either in grammar or spelling. But still I try to avoid making errors as much as possible so that whoever is reading will not have trouble deciphering what I have written.

Well, everybody from non-native English speaking background care about their spelling and grammar mistakes more than English speaking persons .... Thanks :)

I think mistake doesn't matter ,the meaning you want to express is more impertant. No one would be the perfect even he is the native speaker, let alone me taking English as my sencond language. I will try to make sure what I wrote are correct but I don't care it too much

I don't misspell words too often but it's the structure of sentences that worries me. Firefox can't really help me with that

I think you are referring about the spelling. Usually the site enables us to find out if the spelling is wrong. This is certainly a great feature. But with respect to the English grammar, it is all up to us. As much as possible I try to write my English properly. The site encourages us to write in English and I do my best to write it in the proper manner.

I sure do try to, however, sometimes I end up misspelling words unintentionally. If we don't use proper English, then others don't really understand what we are trying to tell them. I know I struggle trying to figure out what some users are tring to say, but then we have all diverse of cultures represented here, so I can understand that they don't know their English to well. I do believe though that they do the best they can when they are here, as English is not their native tongue, but some of them I understand pretty well, and ohters not to much. I have seen discussions in here that weren't even in English. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

hi there! I don't think I use proper English all the time. But I make sure that my spelling is always right. Since, it is the only language we are allowed to use in here, I try my best to deliberate or express my thoughts in the said language. Although sometimes (or most of the times...haha) I happen to commit some mistakes like typographical errors, grammar, etc...hihi! But I am doing my best and I want to improve my English everyday. (even I am nose bleeding already! haha) happy lotting!

since English is not my mother language, for me, speaking English well is practicing it with mistakes. and so is writing. so, i don't really care even if i make a lot of mistakes in writing English here in mylot. because thanks to mistakes, i can even write and speak better English...^__^

Hi. I would always want to ensure the accuracy/correctness of my English grammar and spelling. However, English is not my mother tongue. So personally, I do not really trust that my written or spoken English is always proper. In particular, I'm struggling with prepositions and adverbs. Most of the time, I just hope that other myLotters reading my posts/responses would be more open-minded and understanding to my mistakes.

Well, I don't think its a really matter that you are not from English countries ... As I have already said that I also don't belong from ..... Every year in America and England ...Indian students win the competition for spelling English words ....and they don't belong from there ....so many has gone from here ..... Thanks :)

I am new here so I actually found this article looking for information about how people view grammar on myLot. I find proper English to be very important. I am also a native English speaker which helps tremendously. Most discussions and comments I have read on myLot are filled with grammar and spelling errors. This makes it very difficult to read. On the flip side, if the majority of myLot users are learning English as a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th language, my vocabulary and sentence structure choices could be making it difficult for them to read my comments. I think it is good to try to use proper English to the extent that your skills allow. It helps others to understand you which is the main reason to have communication.
