                    It happens when you swallow air. When you eat and drink, some air gets swallowed, too... and of course it can't stay in there, so you burp, to get it out.
Practically everything that babies do, is cute  Plus, they're so little and new, so I guess we don't think of them as being as dirty as adults. They also can't control things like adults can, and don't know any better.
