Yes and no. The old saying is that the mark of a really good manager is how smart and able his or her secretary is. Out of practical necessity, women in any of the cultures familiar to me usually do have more experience multi-tasking because of the whole job-family juggling routine. But men have a different kind of social network that they can tap into to save them from failure, whereas with women, it is a little like balancing on a tightrope over a shark tank. A high percentage of onlookers both male and female want the woman to fail because of their preconceived notions about women's roles in society. The human race is just not very evolved yet. On the other hand, women tend to cooperate in a manner that is somewhat different than how men cooperate, and that brings a different dimension to the workplace. Different is not always better, but sometimes this is needed to get people out of their rut.

Hi drannhh,I totally agree with you ,although the trend is changed, but outlookers'preconceive notions is still solid,we can see woman who is a manager in middle-ranking of a company, that's common today, but there is few women can stand at a highier position at the top level of a big company,I do believe women are able to do work as better as men,but there is few opportunity for them in our society

Hi Greentea. With a few exceptions it is the same here, and last I checked women with university training here in the US were still making less money than uneducated men. Appearances are one thing and then the reality is different.

Hi, I think it all depends on the person but i have to say as i whole... in an office work place i think a women is a better manager /boss Just like i think men are better builders, police officers, and fire fighters. i know there are great male managers as well as amazing, strong women police officers but as a whole men and women are very different we have different strengths and weaknesses.

Gender has nothing to do with being a good manager. The qualities of a good manager transcends gender. It is more complicated than just being whether a man or a woman.

Yes, because they have better understanding of human nature and mind then man. Its like inbuilt in them. They know how to handle and appreciate. They are more active in society then man. They interact with more than man with different kind of people. So, I think women have slight better marks than men in terms of being manager or handling people.

I have had both male and female managers and I believe the males are alot better. A women in a managers role tend to let the power go to their heads. It then makes for a very uncomfortable working environment. I would work for men anyday over a women. Men are for the most part are easier to deal with then women in management. At least in my experience it has been.

For the most part, not really. the women who want that power are usually the kind you don't want to have that kind of power, sans Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Hilary Clinton, ect. and, pretty much every female psychologist I've known should have used one instead of becoming one, except Dr. Saura Schlesinger. she's good. No, I'm not saying all women are like that, but with so many that are, why take a chance?

hi,i can say proudly, yes, because i had close observation on different families where women manage family with the limited earnings of husband..very calculated, very planned,no wastage of budget...[definately,men can't manage with that income..] And i know many women in the top osition in comanies and middle mangement staff...do well i their job and now it is increasing appointing women as their CEO's ...pepsi,Biocon,ICICI BANK...in India..

I don't agree with you at all. I am telling you this from my past experiences. Whenever I got any lady manager, she didn't do anything for the team also for my career. She always used to do chat with girls/ladies and remaining time in meetings.

I am not agree with the opinion of the discussion you ever follow "women are better managers than men" I think anyone who became a manager is the same. if a manager can manage employees and work correctly. then she or he will be regarded as a good manager by his subordinates,as well as if the opposite happened.be a good manager is not determined by genre but with the ability to manage employees and mutual respect. that all i think about manajer

This is a hard one. I think that women mangaers have one up on men managers. I think because we tend to have more empathy we tend to relate better to our employees. Some men are so cold and short that they can't build that rapport with there team that when things get really rough the ship tends to sink. I beleive if you take care of your employees they will in return take care of you.

I got a woman boss and she's really good. Comparing it to my other man bosses, she surely is the one amongst the best bosses I have. But it doesn't mean that women are often good in the managerial positions. There are lots of traits a woman can have which makes her a good boss. And men too. As long as my boss traits me with respect too, I don't mind if she a woman or hes a man.

Well it depends on the person or the manager. Gender is not really important in terms of management. The very much important things to remember on becoming a manager is that, managers need to know how to do the right things right, the mangers must have a good critical thinking, the mangers have high EQ (emotional quotient) and good at decision making and listening. It really depends cause there are men who can do better and there are women who also knows all the things in management. It depends on the level of education and experience. It is also depends on the training that the manger already acquired, men or women. Both are good, if the manager is capable and committed to their work. If the manager knows his thing it doesn't matter whether he is a male or a female. We really cannot tell on who is better of the two. But what i know is that, all of us have the capability of being a manager but not have the capability of being a good manager. It takes a lot of time, effort and learning in order for an individual to be a good manager whatever gender it may be. Have a nice day.
