I can sleep anywhere from 8-12 hours at a time and i still wake up sleepy than ever like I never went to bed? It's kind of scary cause Im thinking if I never got woke up would I have just slept the whole day away? At first i thought i was just being lazy but i really feel weak in the morning, even my mom said it wasnt normal and she didnt know if i was dead or alive so I will be seeing a doctor about it as soon as possible. Have any of you experienced anything like this? and is there a name for it?

Yes, I have had an exprience like this before but until you go to the doctor you will not know what is causing your tiredness. There are several things that it may be such as you have a virus and you body needs the sleep to help ward it off, you may have simply become over tired and need to do nothing but sleep for an extended period uninterupted or it may be signs of depression. Please don't get me wrong about the depression, you may not feel depressed but often with the change of season, up coming holiday etc there is a certain amount of stress which can create some symptoms of depression. See you doctor, let them check you out and do as they say, it should get better.

I agree i have not been very happy lately and i dont want to do any activites that are physical. Depression could be a participating factor definetly. And my eating habits are not good right now.

Hi cupcakes! I also have the same habit as you!I sleep exactly the same 8-12 hours each day. At times, I may feel a little dizzy when I wake up. My mom said its because I overslept and seems that system is not functioning too well or something like that. But it seldom happens. Never went to a doctor though, and I'm not planning

you know I experienced this some time ago too and I discovered I was getting too much sleep. yes, there is a such thing. I used to go to bed around 10pm and wake up around 7ish...that's 9 hours of sleep...wayyyy too much. So I decided to go to bed at 12-1ish and wake up at the same time...I felt better and I wasn't as tired.

You have to be self disciplined about it! Set an alarm and put it across the room so you have to get up to go get it, then jump in the shower to try to wake yourself up. But I agree, too much sleep is not a good thing, and will definately make you more tired!

Hi, cupcakes84. It seems like you are suffering from a case of lethargy. This is when you have extreme tiredness and fatigue. Or maybe you have been up all week long and your body is exhausted from being up and not resting completely. You should go and see a doctor so that he/she can determine what is really wrong with you. I hope that you are not Anemic. If so, this term would be Anemia. That means that your Iron is low and that you can be very sleepy at times. I hope that you will find out what is really wrong with you. I have just given you a few suggestions as to what I think could be wrong with you. I may not be 100% right, but I am only going by what symptoms you gave me.

Well, if you are checking to the doctor, make sure you check to your dentist also. I found out that the cause of tiredness might be originated from our teeth. Around two months ago, my brother started to complain that he feel tired more often than usually even he was just woke up. And then when he checked up to his dentist, he found out that his teeth growth abnormally, and that cause some issues on his neural system that cause the feeling of tiredness. Of course, you have to check your blood also to see if there are something wrong with your blood, metabolism, and neural system. However, if everything seem to be normal then you have to look at yourself, do you really lazy or not. LoL. Just kidding pal. How the best for you! Regards, Wienzzz

Hi Cupcake! I also experienced such thing. I always sleep 8-10 hours a day but i always feel sleepy when afternoon comes. I also wonder why because I believe that I have appropriate time of sleep and still I feel drowsy. Sometimes my mom is worry with me because I almost sleeping the whole day, she thought I was out of the house but didn't know that I am just in my room sleeping. I don't know if this is an illness or something because I believe that i am not normal compare to everybody.

That's very similar to what i feel, Im thinking just to be on the safe side going to a doctor is always best because it might not just be us trying to sleep it could be a series of things that are making our bodies need sleep much more than regular.

don't really want to alarm you, but I just had a coworker having about the same problem, always tired, no matter how long he slept. He was also having problems with his vision. It just kept getting worse, and finally he went to the doctor, who did a test for diabetes, and well, the doctor immediately sent him to the hospital, which then, transferred him to another hospital because they weren't equipped to deal with it. His pancreas had shut down, and he was getting quite close to being comatose. there's alot of things it could be, but well...this is one of them.

Wow! that's kinda scary but definetly a wake up call to keep up with your health cause you never know what is happening inside I look fine on the outside (besides being a little pale) but something serious could be going on. Thank you for your insight and sharing the story.

i never over sleep or have any sleeping disorder in fact i can never remember a time i slept for 8hours the least i sleep for is maybe around 4 or 5 sometimes less why cause i am very active i got alot to do so sleep as no time to control me,and believe me i am not a stessfull person and i do work hard but i feed on alot of natural food stuff, some of them raw what i tend to realize with my system is whenever i feed on food that is cooked out too much or as been processed too much i tend to sleep more but when i eat most of the things i can eat raw i stay up more and feel less stress also, cause the key to not been stressed is relaxing, take away all that bothers u from your thoughts and learn to relax your mind power as alot to do with your daily movements,if your thoughts are emptied of the negative and filled with the positive then it may help you a to break the tiredness that as overcome the mind to overcome your body,

Do you snore at night when you are sleeping. Snoring can cause this phenomena. Snore can make a person wake up several times at night, sometimes without that person notice it himself/herself. This will result into not enough sleep and that is why that person will still get tired after hours of sleep. Snoring can be dangerous . Please see your doctor for better consultation. Obesity can cause this problem too. If you feel that you falls into this category , you might have to change your diet. Get less carbohydrate a day can somehow fix this problem. You might have to exercise too so that your blood will flow fluently into every cells of your body. However, please consult your doctor because there can be something else living inside your body that make this thing happen.

Gosh..!! It absolutely was my problem few years before.. I sleep nearly for half a day daily.. Ppl around me(even my mom) looked weird at me..!! The only days I sleep less is the day before my exams.. So my mom took me to a doctor.. He said it was normal.. But still my mom wanted to test my hemoglobin in blood.. The problem was there.. I had less hemoglobin content.. So started taking some iron tonics and medications.. I started feeling less tired.. U can test that too if u feel u r over-sleeping..!!

I have been battling that for years now. At first the doctors thought it was mono but I always tested negative for it. Then they thought it was depression and I'm sure that it's partially a factor but it turns out that I have a mild form of Celiac's disease which is an allergy to wheat. I went to webmd.com and did some research on it before suggesting it to my doctor's.

When I was in college - I would do that on the weekends. And then I would have issues sleeping during the week. For example, I can't sleep or what-have-you. But then I got into aerobics swimming. And that wore me out. Keeps me sleeping well (and passed out) at night, and keeps my blood pumping during the day. Nowadays - I run in order to sleep well, and have energy at night. Maybe you should try exercising - start out with walking and slowly work your way up to a jog. Enjoy!

That's different! I never thought of water aerobics sounds like fun and might relieve some of the stress im dealing with also taking a walk or jog is too easy not to do. Thanx 4 the ideas!

I think its normal . well when I went to school , I didnt sleep much and woke up early for school. Now when I go to unversity, I sleep much much more. Its normal to sleep 8 hours because body needs rest. Ive heard that when you go to bed and sleep then you dont feel tired, but when yo go to bed and watch televison then it takes time to go to sleep. It buts mind to work. I drink coffee in the morning and eat and exercise a bit, then blood moves better and I dont feel tired.
