I'm so used to Windows 98se, still, that I can't figure out how to access DOS in XP. I've got a file I need to totally delete, and the only way seems to be in DOS (the file is a Microsoft office 2007 pro edition). I deleted the file, but it keeps wanting to install something that isn't there and mucking up everything I'm doing. I reinstalled MSO2007, but would like to totally delete is as I only have 20g of hard drive, and need the space this trial program is taking up. Anyone got any ideas?

There is a program in your registry that is deleted, my friend. You cannot simply back the program even do this is a kind of DOS. Because window XP is not DOS operated. The best thing to do is to reformat your computer the install fresh windows XP...

back up your files for not loss it, my friend. Then begin process of reformatting your computer to resolve the problems. if you can't do that you really loss a lot of your files because you cannot access your computer at the end...

Windows xp is based upon NT so there is no dos present. You can access windows command line (which is very similiar to dos) by typing cmd from start/run. If you can't delete some files from windows try booting it up in safe mode bt typing f8 while it is starting (before the splash screen) and then deleting the files. Anyway for what i have understood about your probelm it seems you should fix something in the registry. Another thing you can try is typing msconfig in start/run and disabling autostart for any application that seems to be related to Office

Its very easy job. Just goto start Menu--Run--type "cmd" in it without quotes and hit enter. you'll get a DOS screen.Isn't this too simple
