Just like grandma used to make!

Tonight my son wanted French Fries with dinner. I had gotten a big bag of russet potatoes last week on sale and we had plenty of them left. I decided to make fried potatoes the way my grandma used to make them. My kids dove into them and asked for seconds and thirds. They are not something I make often because I will just keep on eating them and fried potatoes are not exactly health food. Is there something you make that reminds you of a deceased family member? A recipe that they used to make?

I love potatoes like that. I put onion in mine, do u? my youngest son loved french fries but didn't love potatoes like that, silly boy, lol. I have alot of things that remind me of my grandmother's but most of them don't taste like their's did.

I do a second batch with onion for myself. The kids won't eat them with the onion. My grandma used to put butter and oil in hers.

Mmmm..sounds good. There are several things that remind me of my deceased family memebers. My grandfather used to love fried potatoes and cornbread. My grandmother made pinto beans and my other grandmother taught me how to make the redeye gravy when we reunited a few years back.
