Have you tried Odesk.com? I've read reviews about O desk and I've seen good reviews about it but I still want to make sure if it is really a reliable site. Also, I don't know how to make it work. Aside from making an account with them, how do you make a bid with the jobs? Can you help me? Thanks in advance.

oDesk is a very good site to earn money . First take the odesk subject tests which are relevant to your expertize so that your profile looks professional . Add any certifications which you possess which will be an added advantage. Find out jobs first which are of a normal payout and less work so that you can get a good feedback which will enhance your profile. Subscribe for -mail notifications from oDesk in the jobs area of your interest. Try to apply in as much jobs as possible. Initially it may take time to get a bid approved but if you are able to get through a good feedback number of projects approved can go higher . I have been working on oDesk since march and been paid handsomely for an Article Rewriting Job.

Hi champrocker! I browse through odesk and upon registration, they require my contact number, address and other personal information. Is it really necessary for me to give it to them before I can register? I just want to make sure. Thank you in advance.

When I registered I don't remember that there was the need of Contact number but yes personal information was required. I actually researched a lot about oDesk before joining and then found that it is one of the best Freelance site. Off late many spammers joined the site and exploded it with marketing . So might be that is the reason that now odesk may be asking for more details. I would recommend you to join because once if you are able to get good feedback many times buyers themselves ask you for completing their projects. If you want to look for some other Freelance paying sites you can go to my Blog through my profile page . I am working on three free Freelance sites currently and I got projects on all three . Odesk is really good if you have a technical background. It opens numerous opportunities. Try to submit the information without filling the contact number but if the registration fails then it is upto you that you wat to disclose or not , as for me if I would have been applying I would have registered. All the best.

I have been working on oDesk for about a year and have done very well. It does take a bit of trying before you will get hired. There are little tricks you can use, though, that will help. Make usre you get familiar with the site and how it works. Look at what others are bidding for certain types of jobs. Sticking with fixed price jobs in the beginning is very good advice. If you go to the link in my profile, I have a blog where I have a couple of posts about how to succeed on oDesk. They are probably in the archived posts, so you will need to look there. oDesk is definately a great place to find work!

I'm also on Odesk. I would recommend that you start with a fixed jobs first to build on your feedback then bid on hourly assignments. As for bids, you need to write a specialized cover letter according to the job you're bidding on.
