I learned to type when i was in the third year of primary, at school. aged 6/7. Basically we had this really annoying piece of sofware called Mavis Beacon typing something (don't believe i can still remember her name) and it used to be composed of the different games. One in particualr was a penguin game where you have to type words fast to make your penguin jump over icebergs on water, so he doesnt get eaten by a bear. Anyway after limping your way to the finish, it would give you your average WPM (words per minute) mine used to be 18-21, lol. Now its some 45 WPM.
What made me type faster is the internet, obviously and that ruddy game xD (which by the way was continued to be thought to me for 4 years. damn.) Ahh well, time on the computer also got me tip top, because i don't have to look at the keys when i type.

I learned to type since I started using the computer, but I couldn't type fast back then. It was my sister who taught me early on how to type fast, and she gave me lessons until I could do it without looking at the keyboard. Because my sister taught me, I didn't need to learn it in school, and I was typing faster than everyone I knew until everyone else learned to type fast

I took some minor typing classes in primary school (when I was around 7 years old) and caught on really quickly. I taught myself how to type over 100 words per minute. In highschool I took another keyboarding class because I knew it would be an easy credit. I was right. LOL

Exactly to say, I started to learn to type when I was in elementary school and I was 10 years old. I can remember that at that time our teacher taught us how to use "DOS" command. White character under black background, that's an classic scene in that age. How time flys, more than one decade was passed.

My first typewriting class was in high school in 1986. As I got older typewriting papers became more important. When computers became into the stream of things they just skyrocketed. I always thought it was easier to use a computer than a typewriter. This because of tabs, mistakes, misspellings, and other things that go with writing a paper or thesis. One thing about it computers sure has made writing anything alot faster.

I learned to type in high school when I took a typing class. The teacher even thought I was good enough to compete in the state competition but I didn't win anything. This was when manual typewriters where still in use a lot. I can still type fairly fast when I want to but I make a lot more errors than I used to since I am so out of practice for doing any real typing.

Way back my fourth year in school, the use of computer is introduce to us. We are taught how to type and how to calculate using computer. But I do learn the basic of typings at that time, but I can't type very fast yet. I am always afraid of our instructor for being a terror. So I ended up chilling whenever we have a graded demonstration.
It was until I started college days, that I started to learn how to use computer. The University where I am in has an internet cafe exclusive for students. I started paying time for the computer usage and start exploring it, I do my research with the use of computer, since our library is located on top of a hill, and very very time consuming to go there.
On my second year of college, we have IT subject. That is when I learn how to use MS Office. I then learn I love computers. I always envied others who typed fast, so I make searches on how I can improve my typing skills and came across with the software Mavis Beacon.
During my second year of college, I choose Math as my concentration, and instantly became a Pythagoras member. The Pythagoras club has their own computers, so I was able to constantly used computers without being charge.
After a 2 months or I think 3 months, I started to type fast and I work on computers good compared to others, I am not praising myself, it is what my classmate says. Then on the 2nd semester on my 2nd year in college, I was hired part time to manage the school cafe. So I spend my Wednesdays and Weekdays in the School cafe, and accept some typing jobs as well as researching. Then later on, start working for teachers.
It was funny how I turn out to love computers, when in fact during my high school days, I seem to have a cyberphobia. Or maybe that is just because of our terror instructor. Some of my teachers said, I choose the wrong profession, because it seems I like computers more than teaching.

Hi there Ice Smile. Well i guess i started learning to type on my own, when i first started using the computer back in 1997. It was a bit slow at first, as this was a new experience for me, but with time i got better, so now i can even type entire sentences with out looking at the keyboard.

i'm yet to learn typing in the real sense... though i can type using one hand or two and i can type with reasonable speed... i can't type without looking at the keyboard... appropriately, my typing is an unconventional one... if you consider it to be 'typing', i have learnt it when i started using a computer back in the year 1993...
