What do you think of GMAs decision to run for congress?

From being the president of the republic of the Philippines, GMA is now running for congress in the up coming 2010 elections. I just find it a bit odd or to the point of raising an eyebrow so to speak because of her decision. I mean, what is wrong with her? when you think of it, a lot of politicians kissed her as*s when she was president. I just can't fathom that she will turn the tables upside down and do all the as*s kissing this time. Unless, she has other motives. With her move, i can almost smell that they're cooking something and it's that same reason why i have every reason to fear if Gibo wins. Do you think I'm paranoid? for the longest time GMA's administration has been pushing for parliamentary system. This is just a hunch but if Gibo wins, he can pursue to change the constitution (although he may have a difficult time convincing the people) to a parliamentary system and put GMA as Prime Minister. I have nothing against RP using a parliamentary system of government but with GMA as PM? i certainly have my doubts. Share yours....

Was going to start a similar discussion when I saw yours... Anyway, I cringed at the sight of her holding her COC. I felt that this was a move for self-preservation. She still wants immunity from charges that will hit her left and right. And yeah, I think that if she wins a congressional seat, she and her cohorts will push for charter change. If she becomes House Speaker and charter change will push through, then she may become Prime Minister. And I cringe at the thought (again). For a small person, her hunger for power is insatiable.

haha..you are certainly correct..that is also my notion about her decision of running as a congresswoman, to avoid the possible charges against her and to pursue that chacha..well, i think she will win because the people in her place demand for her candidacy, i just hope God will enlighten their minds to realize that their decision might be wrong..happy mylotting..

I almost believed in Gibo but all that were shattered when GMA decided to run for congress. Well, Gibo kept on telling people that he could not be dictated upon sure i believe him. He seems to be a very intelligent person but i guess if ever he wins and push for charter change for GMA to be Prime Minister, it's not going to appear that he was being dictated. He will do it because of debt of gratitude. doing a favor in exchange for someone's debt of gratitude is very different from giving in because you are being dictated upon. Two very different things but served a single purpose and that is for GMA to stay is power forever. For all the things GMA has done in politics, this is the most obvious one. For why would she choose to run to congress? after congress, for the senate? and then for VP? and then president again? I supported GMA for the longest time but how can i continue to support a leader who lost her political direction? haay!

i think that decision sucks. i mean, from president to congresswoman? isn't that stupid? (as of this time she has already filed her certificate of candidacy, so there's no stopping her). it is clear she has other intentions aside from public service (?!) i just hope that conrado dequiros is right - that as congresswoman she would be losing her power and clout and she would be nothing. of course, that is if she wouldn't be using all that money she amassed and continues to amass - which is of course highly improbable given that she is addicted to power and will cling to office no matter what the cost...

I think GMA is not that stupid to swallow her pride and run for congress without some sort of a reassurance that she will still have the same clout as what she have now. For one, congress is controlled by the lakas party. As we have seen in the past, administration congressmen were the main reason why she has so far avoided being impeached. If she will become speaker of the house, she will still have the same power over the same congressmen. How much power could she have if Gibo is to win? I have said it before, i have all my respect for Gibo for his intelligence but time and again he has pledged hi loyalty to GMA and that's what is scary. Gibo claims that he will be his own person and that he will not be dictated upon but when you're loyal to someone you don't have to dictated upon to give in that persons wishes, in fact giving in is even considered a favor. GMA's motive is clear as the sun and that is to stay in power. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

I think that is one of her agendas for running for congress. She will pursue that charter change be enacted to have the constitution revised so that change in the form of government will be adopted. If it becomes a parliamentary system then there is a big chance that she can be voted as prime minister and again lead the country like a president again. That is just a long shot for her since we won't know what would be the composition of the new congress coming this May 2010 if it will be ruled by Lakas again then maybe she can easily sway everybody to a charter change if it does not then I guess she can try her best to convince the new congress. or if she could not win the congress for parliamentary she could always run as speaker of the house. Being a former president I guess her past position might have some influence or clout to some of the congressman there and would push her to the highest seat there. I guess the constitution is really mum about a president running for a lower position after her term. What is specific in it is that she cannot run for re-election anymore as president but not for lower political position. I guess that is why until now there is no one filing a complaint or question her filing for congress. Well for sure she is running in her place I would pretty much hunch that she will be successful in her plans if no one can stop her to run.

That is the most obvious thing i can think of. No more no less. Why would she shallow her pride in the first place? i don't think it's the people but it's her motives. These guys are cooking something but i guess the smell is so putrid that people already smelled even before it was cooked. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

hi ybong, I think majority of us got so confused with her decision. I really don't think she will ever run for another seat after having the highest position in our country, it is quite fishy and crazy on some people's point of view that a president running for congress in the middle of crisis both in our economy and peace and order. I don't have any hate with our current administration and to tell you the truth, I don't really care or mind our public officials or our economic status. But this time, even people who are uneducated will get "it" as weird and unprofessional thing to do. I really think and believe she has more plans....and I can smell it, it isn't just for our country but more of her personal gain. I really hope and pray that my sense about this whole situation is really untrue because, it will be so scary and so freakin' crazy if it happens. People of the Philippines lets all pray okay!

Yes, their cooking something and it smells fishy. I think i would have to agree with others that GMA is becoming desperate to avoid going to court to answer everything that so far she was able to avoid due to her immunity. She needs to maintain that immunity to maintain her immunity. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

I think 9 years of service is enough. And I don't think she could win. Enough!!

I also think so. which lead me to think that politics is highly addictive. I think GMA is high and needs to be in it to maintain her sanity. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
