I am a student in university now and i want to earn money by myself instead of relying on my parents. Last summer i took pary-time job and earned little money, i wanted to change my cellphone because the old one is broken. However my dad refused my reqiement, he thought i am a student and i have no resource of income, i am not qualified to ask for something. I have argued with him for several times but in vain. Perhaps he is right, the only way to solve the problem is to depend on myself. Dear mylotters, did you have experienced such things? If you have, please share with us.

Hi Nora, I don’t mind to admit my mistakes but I don’t like if somebody blames me. I must do the same with good intention but it went wrong then if somebody blames then I may get angry. Usually if I did any mistake I am realizing the same in the next moment so it is not difficult for me to admit to somebody. I will try to learn from it. Your friend may be a good criticizer and good criticism can help us in a positive way.

Hi Norah, It's okay to ask for assistance and help from time to time but before doing this we need to maximize everything that we can do on our level. We are the best person to deal with in times of crisis--depending on others might lead to distress and vain as what you said. I am a very independent person, i can be relied on but i see to it that the person i am helping already explored everything on her level before asking me some help. In this way i will be training him or her to handle situations in her own unique and simple way. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND APPRECIATE EVERYTHING THAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF DOING!

if you succeed---celebrate. you have all the reasons for being happy with what you did. no one is to be blamed when you failed except you then move on at least you learned. if you consider others help then be grateful enough to thank them for their valuable inputs or help.

I really appreciate that suggestion you give me. Perhaps you are right, we could ask for assistantance, but we have to try every means to do it and do not let others disappointed.

I stopped depending on my parents when I finished high school , sorry , I can't help you out on this because I have no experience at all. But maybe I would just tell you to start planning on being autonomous when it comes to small needs because your parents won't be there forever!

You are right, parents won't be there forever, i have to prepare for the future now. Last month, my mother had an operation, something wrong with her stomach. Luckily she had a quick recovery and now she is fine. Since that, i feel a little scared since they will leave me oneday. I hope they are healthy forever.
