Many people make a living by working for others. They work in office and work as group. But some people make a living by working on their own. Why is self employed is your type of profession? Are you happy wiith your job?

I think is good to be self employed. You are the boss of your own business or work... you have our own time, work till midnight or rest early... If your are self employed you have the chance to become rich or also bankrupt while if youre employed, you only have a fix salary. In my type of profession I cant help but be employed but I'm thinking in the future to put up my own business.... There's nothing wrong of either of it, the most important is you enjoyed your job.

I think, there is no difference between employed and self-employed. If you consider yourself "employed", in reality, you are still self-employed. Your boss is yourself, and your business is selling your time and efforts to your so-called employer in a company. To me, being employed is still self-employment. It's YOU, Inc.

Hi. I have worked for several companies for the past eight years. There I've learned how to work as a team with other professionals. I liked the sharing of ideas and pooling of knowledge and resources. But what I didn't like is the fact that I did not have enough time for my family. It seemed like I have no say for my own time. I have to stay in the office for as long as it needs me. In result, I have missed a lot of important family gatherings or events. Starting this year, I have worked as a self-employed. My friends and I have opened a business. As such, I have more flexible time to be spent with my family. Also, the income will not be limited to the fixed monthly income that my previous companies had given me.

Personally there are definate advantages to being able to work by yourself instead of in large groups, especially if you are in control of the amount of money that can be made as well. So many times I have done things besides working for others and when I am in charge nothing is impossible, and you do not have to worry about people backstabbing you or belittling you, or just plain overlooking you when it comes time for Raises and promotions as well.

I like to work as self-employed. As magtibaygom said, to own the ladder when climbing up is the good reason, I don't like being threaten to lose my job if I don't follow instructions, I like all profit goes to me, I just like spending time with myself even if the office is in good environment, the busy hassle won't go off easily. I don't like sharing money with my boss, I like my own made money and flexibility.

For most of my working life, I worked in an office in a group situation. I'm now retired and have a home-based business. I make videos for clients. I do this as an individual and I think I prefer it to group work. When the product/video is done, it's all my work, not a group effort.

Hi madie. Yes, when I was working I preferred to work alone or at the very least around a small group of people, though I wasn't self employeed. I like to work independently if I can. I find it a lot easier to focus on my job and get my work done if I am by myself. So, what about you? Do you like to work independently or would you rather work with a group of people?

I consider mylot to be self employment and I do this on the side. To be honest the job I have, while public, is almost private because I am the only employee in the "office". I am a IN HOME AIDE which simply put, is a person who sits with the elderly. All I need do is clean and prepare meals. Most of my day is spent reading or watching t.v. if I am not cleaning, and so I could mylot if I had a computer to use at my "job". I think that it's a lot better to work by yourself as you can do as you wish, but being your own boss may mean you don't get done what you should or could be getting done.

Hi Madie, Good day to you. Self-employed and be employed is always a popular and top discussion. Since young, I have a plan to be self-employed and to be a boss. But few months ago, I get to know the insurance industry and have decided to go for full time. The reason why I want go for full time is I can earn more than the fixed salary and have more free time. However, last month when the time I really want to go out as full time insurance agent. I really not get used to it and fear of I cannot get the clients and have no income. Therefore, I go back to be employed again at other company. Aiks...

By working for yourself, you are building your own dreams, not someone else's dream. If you are working for a boss, the big part of the production goes to your boss, and you only get paid a portion of the results. By working for yourself, all the results goes to you! Plus, by working for yourself, you are your own boss, there's no one who can fire you from your job. I saw one line in a book about self employment, that "the best way to reach the top of the corporate ladder is to own the ladder".
