Snakes can't hear, they hve no ears. If you watch clos, and ignore the music, you'll see that the snake is not following the music, but the movement of the pipe. It considers the ppe a threat, and therefore keeps the pipe in front, hoping for the chance to strike it. the man (and his pipe) are just outside the range of the snakes striking range, and therefore not in danger. it's the movement, not the music.
