I have to admit that I have found Basset Hounds to be very silly dogs. Ours has som much personality that it is hard to keep up with him. He is very maternal and loves people. But, he can also be very unsocial and selfish. When he was a puppy, he would dig with his nose and not his big floppy paws. Well, I thought this would be something he would have grown out of once he figured out how to dig with his paws. Boy! Was I wrong, today, while I was doing a few things in my yard, I watched the funniest thing, my basset decided to dig up an old chew toy with his nose. I just couldn't believe it. I started laughing harder and harder as I watched this sweet dog, digging with his nose. Does your Basset Hound do anything funny like this?

Mine do hilarious things, and lots of things that make their personalities stick out like a sore thumb. My boy basset, Roscoe, loves to sunbathe. Any time of the year anywhere if he finds the sun shining down he lays in it, but will always move just a little to flip sides so he gets "evenly tan" lol. My girl basset, Dutchess, gets even per say. I caught her chewing on one of my expensive leather shoes and naturally snatched it from her and smacked her on the nose (not too hard mind you) and told her the typical no, very bad, not good. Put the shoe up and went on my way. She kept glaring at me the rest of the night and then once my husband and I went to bed, she jumped up on me and I was petting her and loving on her while she decided to pee on me!!!!! Apparently she holds grudges! I laugh about it now but wasn't all too happy at the time obviously.

Gosh! I'm glad to hear that it isn't just my basset that can be a stinker. When we aren't home, unless we talk to him, he will actually pull the bag of trash out of the trash can and have a hay day with the contents. Sherman will also lay in the dirt in the sun for long periods of time then find another place to sun his other side. When he sleeps, he lays his head on the arm of the sofa and uses it like a pillow, or he will almost be in a sitting up position, lay his head on the end table to sleep.

Hi Chulce! I have also have a dog at home who digs the ground everyday. He likes to get inside these holes he digs. He's a crazy one because he is creating holes all over our place. One time I had to pay someone to make him get out of the hole where he got stuck. It was the morning after New Year and he must have been terrified by the explosions that he dug himself a hole deep into the ground. Since it was raining, I don't know what happened but he could no longer bring himself out. I had to get someone to help him get out by digging him out of the hole.
