A few years ago, the truth to this line is very much felt yet. The basic needs for survival were all available to us for free. There was free flowing water and where there's none, one can pump out clean water from the aquifers underneath the earth's surface for free; clean air used to be available to everyone for free; wild animals, roaming around, can be one's food for free; the fruit bearing trees in the forests, are there to climb and harvest for free; so many more we can enumerate and, no doubt they are the very best in life because they happen to be nature's best. This scenario no longer holds true. If we want clean air, we have to buy oxygen in tanks; we want to have clean potable water, we buy them in bottles; we want to eat fruits and vegetables, we buy them in kilograms; we want some meat, again, we buy them in kilograms; etc. It's now a much, much different world we are having.

a few years ago made it sound to me like 5yrs ago... try decades ago or centuries ago.. would make an impact to ur statements. anyway, clean air is still available for free.. maybe u havent been in the mountains or in the forests. maybe u havent been communing with nature for too long. city life? u can still find those u have described, just not in urban, traffic-infested areas where pollution is the only free and non-negotiable thing u'll ever get! have u experienced primary school? i often remember our teacher back then, we were made to pray a very long prayer. why? well, we have to thank God for the life He gave us... for the sun(yup, i know about ultraviolet rays and global-warming).. the moon.. the stars.. for the flowers in the garden.. for the gentle rain that dropeth from heaven.. i am beginning to recite those again! for the beauty of nature that we have ruined but not all, there's still a lot of wonders of the world... free to see(but not to touch! cant help but add that).. u just dont really know what blessings and what beautiful things surrounds u.. be the blind who hasnt seen the world, and u'll appreciate what u can see.. be the deaf-mute, so u can appreciate everything u hear and freedom of speech! be the crippled person, so u'll know u can be out there, to enjoy every scenery the whole world has to offer... can u imagine if the world was just a kilometer in size? and there r just 2-5 persons, with just plain sand on ur feet and nothing more to it? be that x-con who was put into a dungeon, and then maybe, just maybe, when u get out of it, u can see things differently..

trinidadvelasco is just stressing how far the world has changed. which is basically true. the world has changed a lot. proof is the slowly destruction of the ozone layer. sure, i agree that there are still lots of nice places and fresh air to breathe. but we need to go to so many miles before getting there. i myself live in a city. whenever i go out of my house, i always try to cover my nose with a handkerchief because of too much pollution from the vehicles. whenever i walk around the city, i need an umbrella to cover me since there are no much trees to look for a shade. but don't get me wrong. i love the earth we live in. but the truth is, it has changed a lot. that's why i love to go to places where i can see lots of trees, breathe fresh air, see flowing waters even if it takes me hours to get there and even if i need to pay much on the transportation. it's worth every effort and penny. but i still hope that even in the cities, it's still like that. but as i've said, it's different now that before.

I love to live in a farm, just raise poultry and livestock , and plant camote or corn. When you plant, you only visit it 4 times or less, not like in city you have to work everyday to earn your living.

Here's one piece of advice. Try to do without the comfort of your ATM, Credit Card or anything like that. Live in a depressed area with just enough money to get to someplace. Take the MRT train at 6 PM in time for you to grab a copy of LIBRE (free). YOu've already had your freebie, what about the food? Can you beg for some alms to get through the day in the blistering sun? Is that what you say is free? Think again. You don't know what you're saying.

hmmmmmm, i never really said the best things in life r free.. as in a sentence. i asked. but well, ur thinking it the wrong way. maybe u had a rough life, but hey, ur being too materialistic. try counting ur blessings and commune with nature.. what if there's no more sun? or rain? or air? or water? water actually is not free anymore, but hey, can u live without all those? there could be no MRT but hey, u can still walk.. what if u dont have any legs? no eyes? u just dont know how to appreciate the best things in life. think again. u'll feel better after that

I don't think that you can live with out money. Girl's gotta eat! But, I think that you can live simply and get a lot of happiness out of that.

Best things in life are absolutely free!!!What are these things? Your family which stays with you no matter what, and through ups and downs. Your friends who have been your constant source of happiness aside from your relatives. Your pets which relaxes you during stressful days.Your comfort food,no matter how cheap it is(mine is anything that has cheese on it),would put a smile in your face whenever you're down. The great television shows that you like and would later realized that you're already hook just because of the simple fact that you're happy watching it.And the mere comfort you're feeling with God eventhough you can't see him,you can still feel his presence in your everyday life.:)
