Would you lend a very large amount of money to a friend if they lost their job

Would you lend one of your friends a large sum of money (lets say $15,00) from you savings of they lost their job and you were not sure when (or if) you'd get it back?
Why or why not? What would you do? Would you make the deal in writing? would you give them a smaller sum? would you want your money back?

$15 isn't too much and considering that the jobs gone.... I think if I have , I would lend. Of course that friend has to be a friend and not an acquaintance. And I believe that when my friend is able, even without my asking, he/she would return the money. One thing though, I wouldn't lend if it's a many repeated affair.

oh oh that's a lot. can't help you on this one, only the rich can answer.ha ha ha. Actually it depends on how good a friend that is to you. How much do you know about his/her character? Even if he/she is out of work now, he/she needn't that much money, so it also depends on why the money is needed. And most important, do you have/need that money? You have to think it out yourself if that friend is worth that much.

Nope, but I can lend my friend a much smaller one. For the main reason that I do not have much money in my pocket or in the bank right now. And if I would have, its for my family and not for the needy friend. In the question of getting back the money, then we should get it back. Just because your friend had lost his/her job doesn't make it a reason for not paying you back. Maybe not this time but surely in the future when things get better for that friend.

Probably not, not only because I don't have it, but because I've experiences in the past where friendships have been lost & we've fought over it - and that was for smaller amounts like $50. I don't think it's worth it to put your friendship on the line like that!

Thats so true. I had something similar happen to me with a friend. I lent her $500 and made her sing something saying i lent it to her and she wasn't happy about it at all. Than she stopped paying me back and i got upset because at that time i knew for a fact she had the money! We ended up stop talking. I don't think its ever a good idea to lend to friends just because you never know whats going to happen
