Your favourite reading position: sitting or lying?

I agree with you that reading with sitting position will be effective.but i prefer to lie while reading books not only novels but aslo the books for examination,i picked up this bad habit when i was young,although my mother always ask me to get of it,but it is really difficult.and what is worse,i suffered from nearsightedness since ten years ago because of this habit.

I always prefer sitting while reading books because I feel very comfortable and can read books till I finished the chapter/stories where as while lying down and reading I feel very lazy and tried very fast.And also it affect my body.

yeah. i guess it all depends on what you are reading. since novels and comics are more like fun reading for entertainment, i would rather lay in my comfy bed with pillows and blankets and relax while i get into the story. but since textbooks and school work are more headache to read, i rather sit up and try to concentrate on the boring material even though i am interesting in that particular subject. there is more thinking required in textbooks, schoolwork and nonfiction because they are more serious matter.

Hi, icecubic. I can only sit up while reading. I never was one to lay back while reading. It feels like my blood is draining down in my head. I get tired easily when I am laying back while reading a book. I have always sat up while reading.

i prefer sitting when i was reading book. becasue i think lying when reading book is harmful to my eye.

If I were studying I'd probably do it sitting down. It's easier for me because I would be taking notes or maybe doing some calculations. But if I were doing it for pleasure I'd rather do it lying down. Maybe that's why I have astigmatism right now. Because I read a lot and sometimes I could go on til the wee hours of the morning just to finish a book. My eyes would be all swollen and teary by then.

I sit in a swivel chair so that I can turn the chair to find the best light.

I lye down when i'm reading for pleasure, maybe i should do that with textbooks though but usually i'm sitting in my chair.
