Do you feel safe if you have gun at home?

Hi guys! Do you live in tough neighborhood? Do you wish you have gun at home just to sleep well at night? Or are you afraid of guns? My decease father is a judge and before that his a U.S. army.. So yes we have guns in our house.. But my mom hates guns.. So when our father died she put away all the guns.. No guns allowed in the house.. Problem is,maybe its just a matter of adjusting, but I feel unsecured without a gun in the house.. What if somebody try to rob us or something.. What will we use to defend ourself? We don't carry guns outside the house but we always keep a gun inside the house.. But now..no guns..I can't sleep at night when I hear noises outside the house. Where living in a dangerous place.. Where been rob many times before.. But strangely when we put our guns away. theirs no accident of robbery...
