I used to work in IT and still do from time to time now, and I would never use an Intel, the Intels are marketed that well not many people reliese there is a alternative, the intels and amd's are very similiar in performance although I will admit that Intels are slightly more powerful. But its not just the processor will determine the speed of the machine its all the parts working together. My mate built himself a pc and was bragging how he had the most powerful pc had a look he had the top of the range chip but had an awful motherboard and cheap ram, my 3 year old laptop was more powerful because he had bought a low end motherboard and memory which was holding his Intel back. Personally go for an AMD save a few hundred pounds of buying an AMD and use the saving to upgrade the other parts of the pc.

I think they are different companies. ha.ha.ha.ha.... Apart from joke, earlier I have used intel and now I purchase AMD for experiment, but my experiment have gotten fail. Becoz Intel is better than AMD according to my experience. It functioning very smoother then AMD. And I dont play game on PC, so I don't tell you about such difference. I think Game performance depend upon ur hardware not on ur processor, to enhance your game performance you have install sound card, extra Ram, a good VGA card, and some good application also that boost performance of your game.

If you are using your PC normally i.e. without many much S/W and games then Both are almost same. But if you have to install S/W which are based on processor then S/W Intel based are easily available and run more smoothly then AMD. My Laptop also has AMD, and I am facing this Problem.

Amd is good for gaming, but it have heating problems. Intel processor can work for a long time continuously. Before the arrival of core 2 duo I believe that AMD was better, but intel is better with multiprocessors.

Politicaly I prefer AMD cuz Intel recieved a penalty of billions of dollars for making monopoly, means they are 10 times more villians than microsoft was... Apart of that AMD processors are cheaper and have better performance, visit this page: www.amd.com/la/products/desktop/processors/phenom-ii/Pages/phenom-ii-competitve-comparison.aspx But the the money is in your hands, you choose.

Amd is better because it gives better value for money. And that is what you look at when you go to buy.

A processor is not used for a single purpose. If you want to write something a Pentium 2 processor will do. That is not why a processor is built. Intel gives better performance in all departments. It is a little costly when compared to an AMD processor but is more reliable. I have used both Intel and AMD processors. I liked Intel. They are reliable and gives great performance. I am currently using AMD and its biggest drawback is that it uses too much power, far more than Intel.
