What type of articles do you write that makes good upfront payments? Just curious. I have been writing on AC since the beginning of the year, but was absent from the site for awhile. I started writing again and now I feel I won't ever leave, I love it so much. So what type of articles have you found to get good upfront payments?

I usually write parenting article. Sometimes I do some how-to articles that I have remembered doing or that I am doing. I just love writing for AC. Sometimes it is frustrating, but I just keep telling myself it's free money I didn't have to pay for. LOL

Exactly, I know what you mean. I write how to's, pet care, and just anything that interests me. I know what you mean about frustrating, I hate it when I get rejected for upfront, aarrgghh! Thanks for responding. P.S. I think I might have you on my list on AC already. If you don't mind, what is your link to AC so I can follow your articles. Thanks so much... :o)

How-to articles do tend to get upfront payments. I tend to write parenting articles, which do OK but not amazing. Seasonal ones are great too. Right now articles about giving gifts such as gifts to give your boss, and new year's resolutions would be hits.

The topics I most like to write about (art, travel, books) don't usually do really well on the upfront payment side. I have learned (through a lot of rejection) that the only way to be assured of upfront payment is to do Call for Content articles. That way, you know exactly what you will be paid. You have to check often and move fast because they get selected quickly. The best earning articles for me have actually been product reviews (like an electric toothbrush). Product reviews, particularly electronic items, are often looked up by readers. That's the real key...what do readers want to see? I am quite sure that if you have the latest on Tiger Woods's newest mistress to surface, you will be in the money. Those kind of articles, however, only make money in the short term. Writing how-to's (especially about fixing things around the house) or product reviews (for your new flat screen TV) are likely to earn you money continually, as well as upfront. Good luck with your writing. What topics do you like to write about?

I know, the Tiger Woods story is just overwhelming right now. I do love writing how to's. What is your profile for AC if you don't mind. I'm interested in reading some of your work. Thanks for the advice... :o)

Oh yeah, some of my other highest performing and up-fronts were reviews of products (which I don't even know if they are paying up-front for reviews anymore since the rules have changed) and hot-to articles.

I really enjoy writing mental health articles and environmental articles. They seem to really like those kind of articles. You just have to make sure that they are unique and not the same as other articles on associated content. Otherwise they will not accept them. I get a lot of my articles accepted for upfront payment when I write about these subjects.

I am not on AC but from some of the comments you received here I think I need to sign up. Do you have a referral link or do I just sign up?
