Rules Are Meant To Be Broken, Right ??

Rules, rules, Rules. Everyday, we live with rules. We follow rules, we break rules. And there's a saying "Rules Are Meant To Be Broken." Agree? I just wonder, what is life without rules. Everyone would be doing crimes all over the place. One day you might just wake up and see all your stuff in your house is gone. Report to the police? There's no rules, is there going to be police around? So, now what's life with rules? Its like the condition now. I woke up in the morning, go to school, on school uniforms, I can't be late, I cannot bring liquid paper, I cannot do this, I cannot do that. AAAAhhhh!!!! What the heck. So, are rules meant to be broken? Well, if there's no rules, that means the police are going to earn nothing. Right?

You right, if there were no rules this whole world would go amok. Still there are lots of people who don't follow the rules. Some rules are ment to be broken, like"Having to be home at a certain time or not talking on the phone after 8pm.

Maybe theres a difference between rules and laws. Rules are cannot bring liquid paper to school. Laws are not to steal. Police go after law breakers not rule breakers. Obey the rules teaches to obey the laws. Either case rules or laws freedoms get taken away. I for one dont like that idea. I love being free. Dont love paying fines. Rules can have privildeges taken away such as going to friends house or computer use. I wouldnt like that either. If ya cant do the time, dont do the crime.

People creat rules and broke the rules and creat new one. That is a repeat process for all the biology. So , rules are meant to be broken, it is right, it is just long or short time.

I don't think that the rule is always be broke. I know this is always be violated but not broken because rule is rule and no one can break that. You, right. If there is no rule there is no police, no government and all people will be like in somalia that's no rule but for the warlord...

Rules are not necessarily sacred, principles are. Rules are mostly made to be broken and are too often for the lazy to hide behind and rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.

Rules that don't make any sense or have any true reason behind them are made to be broken. Rules like that are born of someone's desire to control people, NOT out of an actual reason such as safety or security or anything that can be measured and proven. There are many things that are touted as being a safety or security thing, but when you dig deeper, you find out that's only on the surface and not the TRUE reason. I question a lot of things because the majority really does not make sense. Things that are based in morality - not religious morality - more or less life is sacred, keep your hands to yourself, don't steal things that aren't yours, don't hurt or kill people, don't cheat, don't lie, etc - THOSE are rules with reasons - to protect people from each other and follows general rules of respect. Things such as rules about appearance shouldn't apply, rules that bring in arbitrary ages shouldn't apply, rules that penalize innocent people shouldn't apply - punish the guilty, don't penalize the innocent in the name of making everything 'fair'. Penalizing the innocent is never FAIR. We really only need a few rules, and if they are broad, that means we have just a few, but they are ENFORCED. Respect yourself and others should be one. That covers everything about keeping your hands to yourself, not saying anything if you can't say anything nice, minding your own business, not harrassing or threatening others, not stealing, not injuring or hurting people, taking care of yourself, making sure you are where you need to be on time and prepared, doing everything to the best of your ability, doing what you promise, etc etc.

Whoever came out with the saying 'rules are meant to be broken' must be one heck of a rebellous person. It's the same when you say 'stolen sweets are sweeter'. Both are wrong and we know it. But still we do it and gain satisfaction from it. Whatever it is, I hold on to one saying and that is 'promises are made to be kept'. I can break rules for all that matters but when I make a promise, I intend to keep it and that promise is definitely not made to be broken.

Yes, for everyday, for everything, we have to follow the rules, all kinds of rules, we need to arrive office on time, we only can have a rest in the noon, we can leave the office when the working time is over. And in our life, we love some rules and also hate some rules, but anyway, we have to follow them, otherwise we will make us into trouble. But on another hand, rules always to be broken by us or by others. All things develop continually, and the society make progess, many rules had been broken and established new rules. And i think we could live if there are without rules.

First ever rule was from GOD Almighty when HE told Adam & Eve they could eat anything just NOT to EAT from the TREE of LIVE and they DID IT anyway. "WHAM BAM!" Thousands of years later WE went from ONE RULE to TEN COMMANDMENTS (rules) to what WE have TODAY rules up wazoo! So, are rules meant to be broken...two words HELL NO!!!!!!

i really like this idea of breaking the rules... but not which involves serious law... i remember bunking my classes in school and going for movies numerous times... also if we were late to school anytime, there was a back gate through the canteen... we used to take that way for our class... and in college, when we couldn't make it to the class or were in no mood to attend class, our friends used to put proxy attendance for us... and we used to pay it back by doing the same for them too... in office too we have done proxy attendance many times... got caught a few times but the manager was good... so never took it seriously...

really depend on the rules. There are rules that should be followed but there are that should only be done according to your consideration. Because for me, some rules sets they boundary of right and wrong and a lot of times, it gives discipline to people but there are some that just really for the purpose of few people.

Hi harsh. I agree that we need rules badly! If we don't have any this world would be in a sad state! People would be hurt and be in danger all of the time. But there are rules that are too strict that has to be broken. Just as long as it is not harming someone else then the rule can be broken with no effects. I am glad that we have rules, it keeps most of the behaviors good. And for the ones that don't follow rules, then it will be hard for them in life.

Sure you can break rules. But you have to think first of the consequences and reasons for you breaking the rules. If he reasons are good and of great importance than it's okay to break the rules. You always have to consider the consequences of breaking the rules. You need to have the capacity to face the consequences. If it's too big a deal then don't break the rules. Otherwise, well, you would know, won't you?

I am working in a big company with over 1000 employees. There are many rules to abide by: not to be late for working, no gaming at office time, no smoking in the factory area, etc. Some workers keep complaining about the rules. They break them and get punishment. But rules certainly helps us to regulate their behaviour. We can't imagin what will happen if people don't start working on time. But in the early days when the company was founded with only about 20 people. There was no need to set up rules. It wasw a good team with the same fighting goal. All of the workers got up early every day and try their best to solve problems and work out good methods to improve sales. With the growth of the company, more people joined in it. We work out rules only in the area where people are likely to make mistakes. So I think rules are the result of rule breaking activities. That is, we don't need rules for people who can restraint their activities.
