my grandfather who is 87 now, a senior citizen still as healthy as the cow, got this hoarse voice. it's like a thunder when he speak (it's funny 'though hehheheh but he sound uneasy on this)...anyway, especially when he took cold drinks, this is followed by a cough, which is usually relieved by cough syrups.
he's not a smoker, in his younger years however, he said he occasionally drank wine (now he's only opt to coconut wine). what do you think is the problem of his throat? he have not consulted a physician about this, knowing him, he's afraid 'though.
anyone could help?

It is sad to hear about your grandfather's hoarse voice. But may be it could be due to the old age. Anyways it is better to consult a doctor who can help him to get back his original voice boosting up his confidence than to just sympathize for him. I don't think any sort of drinks would have brought him such a hoarse voice. So convince him with a positive note and take him to a doctor to rectify the problem.
