Generally speaking, death is something that brings fear so much that once it happens, even someone you so much loved while alive becomes an alien. when a close person dies, even big people become children again, they wail, fall down and tears stream uncontrollably. Different cultures have their connotatonal understanding of death. I urge you to read this and appreciate how culture relates to the the fear of death among different societies.
