Treating ourselves with kindness.

Treating ourselves kindly makes us feel happy, lighthearted, and generous in our relations with others. Most of us love to be generous and kind to the people in our lives, but we often forget to direct a little tender loving care to ourselves. We may worry that we're being selfish or that the time we devote to ourselves will somehow detract from the time we have for others, but actually the reverse is usually true. When we make a point of treating ourselves kindly, both with words and actions, we feel energetic and joyful, which strengthens our eagerness to reach out to others and share our joy through kind gestures and compliments. When we direct some loving kindness to ourselves, the generosity we direct to others will be even greater. Think of the most popular people you know, and you you will quickly realize this truth.

Yes, if we are kind to ourselves is so easy to be kind to others because we can't wait to share our happiness with others.

I agree with you that if we take time out to treat ourselves kindly then we will be able to treat and appreciate others. Our eagerness to appreciate goodness and good qualities inourselves will motivate us to find the smilar qualities in others. If we cant find thes ethings in ourselves it will be very difficult to recognise it on others

I've been telling this to my husband for years. I do everything that i can to take care of myself, and then I am ready to go out and help others. It is not selfish to spoil ourselves. That way we won't have to wait for others to heap affection on us that might not come. Sure I have a husband and family who love me, but if I wait for 100% of my validation to come from others, I'm going to be waiting a long time. I need to love and take care of myself, then my love for others, and others love for me will not cause anyone to be overwhelmed.

Hi danisncanadian, Thank you and I'm sure that you are right. When we're feeling great, we have much more to share and it's then that we feel like sharing it. Blessings.

It is right that we will be happier if we treat ourselves with kindness. When we are happy with ourselves, it will make us happier to serve the others with kindness because a happy inner mind enables us to do a better job somehow.

TRUE ABSOLUTELY TRUE, POSE123. i did not give this a thought until you made me aware that we have to be fair to ourselves first before we can treat others the same. What an eye opener! Thanks.
