Hi guys! I'm living in the Philippines. and our police reputation here is not quite good. Because many of our police are corrupt and been associated with some criminals elements.. So I'm just wondering.. Do you trust your police? Or do you have anything to share that related to police corruption? thank you

Well the is also used in combination with "The Netherlands" so seems to be several other countries having that too... But The Netherlands means ("The lower country" based on location compared to sea level) So i wonder does The Phillipines means something specific?

Yeah, I know that country. In english grammer the is use to represent "the only". Its like Michael Jordan. Theirs so many people name Michael who play basketball. But if we use "the" before the name.. The Michael of basketball...Its only means the one and only Michael Jordan. I think the Netherlands use the to represent themselves as a country. Cause theirs so many Netherlands. Dutch people who migrates to America create their own netherlands their. So if you say the Netherlands it means that is Holland..

Yeah..Eastern European Countries are just starting to be a fully democratic country..Cause of years of Communism make their police force abusive. In 10 years maybe they can settle down and have a good police force. But our country is a different story.. Our country in 1960 is only second in Japan in terms of economy and militarily ..Imagine that.. Now..what is the Philippines? its funny our country use "the"Philippines.... As if..lolz..

Hi. Sometimes I trust the police, but not always. I am also from the Philippines and I agree that their reputation here in the country is not that good. But I'd like to believe that they're not all bad. There are still some of them who are honest and respectable.

woow! tough one... I think around 80% is not yet corrupted... I mean, 80% of the entry level to the police force. Then, 20% of those who are already in service for several years. LOL!

Yes their is some honest and respectable police and armed force. I have lots of relative who is in police and armed force. Also rotten cops also respect their peers if they are good. So theirs what we could "pakisamahan". As long you don't cross the line they will also cross that line. But in your own opinion..what percentage of police force that are clean and honest? For me as long as our politicians are corrupt police force will be corrupt. So lets vote honest to goodness politicians.. Vote opposition, vote for respect of freedom, vote for the poor and for the masses! vote for Erap...joke..lolz..

It is very difficult to trust anyone these days, be it the police or just another person. Corruption is everywhere, people now-a-days can do anything for the money. And since people in the police are also humans they fall into traps too, so there is nothing much to expect out of anybody.

I am also living in the wonderful country and a wonderful city in the Philippines. Personally, I don't have a good view of the police force because of what you have said is true. Many police officers had been into some criminal and fraud activities that their image had been wrecked and tarnished. But I still respect them and go to them whenever I have some problems related to what they do - protection of life and properties. At least, I had a good experience once.

Yeah..we also do that. I have lots of relatives in police and military..Even my dad is a retired U.S. Army..But in general..the information they share..You can picture out how corrupt police are. They are good soldiers, but they can only keep their eye close..What can you do if 80% of your mates are corrupt? Good thing about it if your straight they also respect you..As long as you don't interfere.

Hi bulastika, like you said, there's also occuption in China as well, I think most countries all have occuptions. But police is almost the only way for a citizen who was robbed or hurted by others to declared and helped, although we have much suspisiou about police but we have to ask help from them. Most policemen are not that bad, we should still give them some trust, they should service and protect their citizens.

I'm sorry what do you mean occuption? is that occupation? or corruption? Your right we have no body to turn to but police. But sad to say we been rob many times and police came do their things etc. But until now no suspect has been arrested. Three more of your neighbor has been burglaries and until now the cops just when to their house asking question. Taking finger prints but no suspect caught. ... But if you pay them, after an hour even the robbers in the next village will be caught. Grease money..grease...

I guess its the same all over the world that people do not trust the cops because of corruption and their high handedness while dealing with the public in general. In my country the police are very poorly paid and live in very bad conditions. Also they have long hours of duty with no time limit and are generally abused by the public. No wonder they become corrupt and take to bribery in order to supplement their income. Also their work is frustrating as when they catch a criminal, he usually gets away if he has connections of the higher ups like politicians etc. This usually happens and all their hard work goes in vain.People don`t trust cops because many times they are hand in glove with criminal elements and this is another reason for not trusting them though it is not in general. Also most people avoid getting entangled with the cops because the moment a complaint is lodged, instead of the criminaly you are harassed by the cops and subjected to endless harassment like constant questioning and harsh language and treatment. I am a senior citizen and live alone and the cops say that we should register with them for our safety but i have not done so because if they are in touch with criminals i will suffer rather than feel safe.

I can relate to that..lolz..So our police conditions is same as your their.. But I think our cops are paid enough that yours..But bribery, corruption and political influence are all most the same..but I think it still safe to say that police here in the Philippines can be trusted as long as you have money..but if your a poor..its a different story..you become a target for fall guy in any crime that need to be solve right away..

Generally in Australia the police aren't too bad.. I know while I was travelling Europe in certain countries you avoided the cops like a bad smell.. But back here I have no itrust problems with the cops.. If any corruption stories come out they're usually higher up the ranks and won't be the officers we as the general public will come in contact with..

Its nice that you have professional cops in your country..How I wish ours is the same.. You mention Europe..what countries is that? But I think corruption in the force what ever country you are, are always present
