I know this question has been asked a thousand times, but can anyone please make this clear for me? I've been thinking about a golden retriever but I live in an apartment. Of course I'd take it outside etc. but do you think it would be too bad for the dog? I have university in the afternoon but my father is home a lot of time... so he would keep him company... what your thoughts on this?

Hello! I have a Labrador at apartment. But in the mornings he is going to work (he's a border guard dog) and then all day he's in job, then it's ok because he was all day outside, running, playing etc. I think it is ok to keep at apartment if you can ensure that every day he can go somewhere for a longer walk or to go to run somewhere...then to my mind - no problem ;) Good luck!

I wouldn't reccomend it, but if you do get one, you MUST talk him/her for 1+ hour walks every single day. Big dogs need lots of exercise, and won't do well in small places otherwise.

I don't see that it would be a problem so long as the dog was taken out for frequent, long walks, as they are active by temperament and if they don't get enough exercise, could get bored and frustrated.
