Relax Happy. Take me for example. In what is my English any less than those who never spoke baby talk according to you. In my house we all went through that stage and enjoyed indulging in baby talk. To further elaborate I do freelancing and write poetry too with perfect English.

Hai allknowing, nice bubbly discussion. I went back to nostalgic memories. I used to say pappitta for pepperamint, chachichu for chocolate, bikki for biscuit, bavu for milk, mum mum for food chella mutha for kiss, kooter for scooteer, oh it is never ending.

Very true. Why will baby talk have adverse effect? It will not have adverse effect. As far as I know, in many houses they talk baby talk with babies and kids.

Baby talk comes naturally when one talks to a baby. I cannot imagine talking to a baby in an adult way. Most of my family are holding senior positions and are excellent when it comes to speaking and writing English. It is folly to think baby talk will have a permanent adverse effect!!!

hi babytalk I never used baby talk for my kids as I wanted them
to learn to speak correctly as I had seen kids mimic that baby talk way past when they should be learning how to use correct
E

I have no regrets at all. My parents and my older siblings always talked to me in a language that only babies could understand and this has never interfered with my ability to talk and speak 'king's English' if you know what I mean!!!And just in case you need an explanation 'king's English' is English speech or usage that is considered standard or accepted.

We tended to just use the normal words. I couldn't see the sense in calling something by one name and then calling it something else later on. Why learn two languages, one of which is basically nonsense? We saw cows, dogs and sheep (perfectly simple monosyllabic words) - not moo-cows, bow-wows and baa-lambs.

Hi. When I was young, I remember that my parents reprimanded me for baby talking to my younger brother and sisters. They asked me to utter the words completely and correctly. According to them, babies could learn how to speak faster and better that way.

Everything falls in place at the right time. There is no reason why one should panic about a child doing badly in life just because of baby talk.

Well, they are great moments and we feel really proud to hear those baby talks. I teach her all and best moment she called mime for mummy.lol. I tell her dog as doggie , dad as dada, she loves to repeat that again.

Go ahead besthope. Let your child remain a child for that period. She has years before her for all that adult talk.
