Living with PCOS

December 9, 2009 9:18am CST
Back in 2007 I was diagnosed with PCOS and it has changed my entire outlook on life. Being overweight, I always assumed it was down to just eating too much and junk fatty fast foods. However, PCOS can cause weight gain down to the insulin resitance that sufferers have. PCOS doesnt mean infertility for every woman, but can affect a high percentage of women. This for me means going through the NHS fertility system, which is heartbreaking. Every time something doesn't work, it can an will always get you down, as it feels that it is unfair. After all, I was put on this earth to become a mother wasn't I? Is there anyone else out there who suffer with PCOS and want to have a rant/chat etc ?

i self diagnosed myself about two years ago. i knew there was something wrong with me and started researching online and knew i had it.I went to my family doctor but he blew me off and gave me birth control pills. i kept fighting and about two months ago got a referral to an endocrinologist. About three weeks ago I got diagnosed officially. I have gone on the gi diet and lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks. PCOS does make it harder for us but its not a sentence. if eat right exercise and have a good endo or gyno or even family doctor you will do well.

I also have PCOS and it really is difficult for me. Iam overweight and i'm having a hard time losing weight but I'm still trying. I have been on hormonal pills and will be a year on december, By december I would have to go back to my Ob and she will give me another medicine while I'm off the hormonal pills so it's really a hassle for me. I cannot stop taking pills but then I cannot take it for more than a year so I have to take alternative medicines and it is becoming tiring for me. Good thing my boyfriend is very supportive and Bless him for being so patient everytime I get so grumpy. I always have mood swings and that is one thing I'm very annoyed--- it's hard to control my emotions..very weird!

I have PCOS too. I was diagnosed when I couldn't get pregnant. I have been dealing with it for a few years now. I was able to get pregnant by help from a reproductive endocrinologist. I had twins. Infertility is heart breaking. Metformin and Femara worked for me.
