Can you see me now? LOL

I have decided to change my avvy. Not because I don't adore my dancing girl, but because this year has been a huge one for me in a lot of ways, and so I'm changing my avatars on all my sites to better reflect my belief system. I have spent the better part of this year exploring my Pagan roots (Celtic Irish) and have become a solitary practicing Wiccan. I was also born in the Chinese year of the Dragon which has been my motif in many things all my life. So my new avvy depicts both. The Dragon and the Celtic Cross. I tried to get sparks to emit from it, but no go. LOL What does your avvy mean to you?

This time of year is a good time for change, I can't say your new avatar is very colorful, take a look at it in the small size, maybe you could color it up a bit Your whole persona is full of color, you don't want to loose that part of you. Blessings

I've always loved your avvy and I'm not surprised to learn you have Native American blood. Your avvy conveys that............... Lakota makes me think of the arthritis medication I take though............which is ok, because it makes me feel better and you always do that for me too. So it's a win/win in my book! lol

hi lakota I always learn things here in mylot, I had always assumed Lakota was a Sioux name but its apache, I had a lot of Sioux friends as I worked in the hospital in Rapid City s.d, not too far from the Sioux indian reservation. that was many many years ago. the c all number of the local radio station was KOTA the best darned station in the Whole Sioux nation, and I still don't know where they got that unless some of the people on the station were actually Sioux.

Hello leenie, it's nice to see you. I have not been doing well and what little energy I have has been spent on must do things. I've also had a lot going on with family and had to help out even when I do not feel up to it. This gets me down more. I do hope to be doing much better soon.

Very Cool Daffy, I guess I should go back to calling you Sparky? I wish I knew more about Celtic Irish. I just wouldn't know where to begin. It's been a while since I've been to the site. Your avvy really is cool. I'm happy to see you again. How's everything going with your other Family? Big Hug Leenie

Thanks Louie and don't you dare go back to calling me Sparky. I wouldn't know who I was talking to! LOL Here's a link that may help you learn and understand the Irish Celts better. It's a great read; www.realmagick.com/articles/08/1308.html It's good to see you too. As for the other Family, they have, sadly, pulled back from further contact. Sad, but perhaps they are just not ready to go further. Time will tell.

Quite honestly Louie, I think she only got in touch because a disease had shown up in our family line and she wanted to let us know about it. I think any further involvement was not intended and of course being me, and thrilled to make contact, I probably talked too much and scared her/them off. lol I don't know. But it hurts my heart, so I am so glad that I have friends like you!

Thanks sweets. When my kids were growing up they were never at a loss for gifts for me. They knew that a dragon or something with a dragon on it, would make me so happy. lol I remember once my youngest coming home about the age of 5 with a robin's egg he'd found. He nursed that egg and nursed that egg and was so disappointed it never hatched into a baby dragon. lol Eventually I drained the interior of the egg and we put a dragon decal on it, and to this day it still sits on the shelf in my office.

A Celtic Chinese Pagan Irish Canadian! Phew, what a brew that is. Does the Dragon signify a little Welshness as well? My avatar signifies that this baby is potty and always has been. Care to come out in the garden with me. I promise to fumble dangerously!

No offence to be taken please but the Celtic Cross is very special to me. Does it go with Wiccan? If so, how can this happen? It is Christian. I should appreciate a response and forgive my ignorance regarding Wiccan but a Celtic cross is not pagan. I am being respectful to you and not provocative in any way. Blessings

Sweets, I certainly understand your confusion. No worries. And actually I'm glad you raised this point. Here is a link that will explain the origins and meanings of the Celtic Cross. Please check it out and it should put your concerns to rest. http://www.ancientspiral.com/celtcross.htm The cross is traditionally associated with Christianity because it is the symbol of Christ's sacrifice for us. But in fact the cross predates Christianity by eons. As for it's association with Pagan belief (including Wicca) it also predates Christianity. And today modern Wiccan's are not precluded from incorporating their Christian beliefs into their practice of the Wiccan ways. I was brought up Catholic, and have a deep rooted belief in the teachings of Christ, and one of the things I like about Wicca is that I can still hold those beliefs without compromising my Wiccan belief system. Most of Christian belief and ritual is based on Paganism though Christianity as whole would argue with that. But it was knowing this and doing research into the basis of Catholic doctrine that took me back to their pagan roots and in so doing convinced me to 'go pagan' myself, if you know what I mean. Let me know how you get on...........

No probs cynthiann. Read it when you can. One of the beautiful things I've found about being Pagan, is that it also allows for ALL people to be Children of the earth, of God, of the Universe. It unites all living creatures in the celebration of life, love and worthiness. There is no other 'religion' today that truly practices that.............

HVE NOT READ LINK YET AS HAVE TO RUSH TO OTHER JOB. i ALSO AGREE THAT THE Church USED PAGAN FESTIVALS TO CONVERT SO CALLED PAGANS TO CHRISTIANITY. Sorry - just noticed caps and no time to change. Therefore after 30 years or so then the old pagan rituals would begin to be forgotten. With the exception of Easter we know that many festivals are not on the exact date. Any religious would agree that Christmas day is not the date of Christ's birth. To me, and others, this is not important. What is important is that He was born and in doing so, we all could become God's chosen people - not just our brothers in the Jewish race. The importance of His mother Mary is that she said YES to God's request that she carried and bore Jesus. Look what she did for us? My mind is open and flexible and I will read the link. I know that some persons believed the Celtic Cross was linked to Druids but this is not proven. I thank yo for your response and will rad the link tomorrow. Many blessings(I am of Irish blood too. On both sides.)

Hey sparks! Quite an interesting avvy at that! Thanks for the explanation! I tried to just change mine to my Christmas one and I ended up with the "screaming green thing" so I finally was able to get my regular "Opal" one back and decided to just leave things the way the were! Mine is my beautiful birthstone that was given to me by a very special mylotter! He sent it to me so I could have something that symbolizes my birthstone and I just truly love it! And I think that I will always keep it there because it describes me so well! I am a Libra and it shows the many colors of my personality! Hence my user name~Opal!
