Well, professional photographers normally sell there photos for $100+ to companys or organizations. Stock photography is for the companys/organizations who haven't got the budget for these type of photos. Preferably stock photos are took by amateurs and sold for around $1 at the lowest price, it doesnt seem like much for the seller but if you've got 2000 images with 2 downloads on each one, thats $2000. I wrote a blog on it, I can send you the link if you want to know more

Hi, I find it interesting that there is someone who knows about microstock. There are not many people who knows this. Well I can recommend you good microstock sites like istockphoto and fotolia. The payment rate is quite good, but of course their requirement is very high. From my experience not all of your submitted photos will get accepted. They need to be of high quality and suit market demands. Its very hard to guess which kind of photos sell well but you could always join some photography forums and learn from the discussions there. It's pretty easy to guess the current trend and fit your photos around a common subject. For example: now its near Christmas time, so naturally photos like christmas gifts, trees and so on will sell. Remember: market demand and quality determines whether your photos sell. Also, remember that not all photos are accepted. So keep sending in photos, build a profile and analyse your photos that got sold (which will give you a pretty good idea of what subject is popular). Keep at it, and you can make money from this.

I am quite new to this type of photography. I mean I have heard this type of photography for the first time. What I was aware of was only photography. But stock photography is something that is completely new to me.
