The present generation sure is truly blessed that they have a sea of knowledge at their disposal through the Internet without having to move from their seat. I remember the days when we were studying, library was the only place where we could find something other than what we learnt in schooland. I sometimes wonder going to school is at all necessary these days.

I think 'e' learning is a relatively new way to be educated. I think it can work well especially for people that live in isolated communities if they have a computer with the Internet. The Internet has a wealth of knowledge on it. A student could purchase 'e' books. The 'e' book student lacks the social aspect of going to school. In my days of being at school I had to study in the classroom and visit the library. When I was traveling in Western Australia I visited the School of the Air. There was a lesson on the radio talking about saving water. Nowadays I am sure they must use 'e' learning where possible. The children come from the outback and are too far from their nearest school.

The lack of socialising as some here have pointed out can all be arranged and there will be no dearth of such facilities. Even e chatting is some kind of socialising.

By going to school you have personal teaching by the teaching staff. You will get tips and knowledge about good books and their contents. You can discuss with teachers and other students, which is not possible by sitting at home and e-learning.

The lack of socialising can be organised in the neighbourhood. Also e chatting is always there.

Hi all! e-learning is indeed a giant leap towards the advancement and it really helps students to study at their own convenience, may be in comfort of their homes etc. Going to school has its own advantages. Please remember a computer of a laptop is no substitute for a human face. A lesson taught by a teacher will always be more affective than a class on computer. A computer cannot copy or depict the emotions, sentiments, gestures of a teacher and that of entire class. We need to have a mix of both (e-learning and human teachers) for better understanding.
