Do you own clothes you've never worn?

I've had this pair of jeans for a few years now. I don't remember where I got them, they must have been given to me. I've never worn them. Why? Because they never fit! They've always been a size or 2 too small. So why do I keep them around? As motivation to try to fit into them someday. Any time I attempt a diet I will take them out, and try them on, and measure my success by how tight they seem to be. Well, I wore them for the first time yesterday. I wore them all day! They're still a little tight, but I can squeeze into them. To me, that means I'm thinner right now than I've been in years! I still have a ways to go though. Do you own any clothes you've never worn? Do you keep a pair of pants around as motivation to lose weight? Do you measure your success by how well tight clothes fit?

I'm bad for buying clothes I never wear. I get high from shopping, so a lot of the time it's just about buying stuff. Anyways I have many pairs of designed jeans I've bought online that are worth over $100 and I just never wear them because I don't like how they look in real life. One pair I bought from Hollister were $150.00 and I put them on and they were so flared they looked disco pants from the 70's.. lets just say I never wore those again. When I do buy these clothes I never wear I often sell them on Ebay.. and get back at least a fraction of what I payed for them.

Hi kats. A good discussion you have here. I own a lot of clothes that i never worn (yet). Some of them are impulse purchase, and some are given by relatives. Those given to me are just too big for me. I'm not hoping to get any bigger and keep it for the future haha.. but it just that if i didn't keep it, my relatives will just keep it in the wardrobe and will never wear it. But end up, i also just keep it in the wardrobe. I have this very nice and cute long coat, but it's not something very common to wear this fancy coat in my country here. It may look common in the western, but if i wear it here it will just attract all the eyes. I can't lose any weight anymore, i have quite a big hips, but it's due to the bone structure. Nothing i can do to fix it, so I don't really have any smaller outfits to keep as motivation. Have a nice day =)

I have a closet full of clothes I either haven't worn or haven't worn in a few years and then some I get into every year after losing 75 pounds..but always put the weight back on in winter months..I am thinking there is a link..I lose weight in summer when hubby is gone most the time.. and gain it when he is home in colder since he doesn't work winter months..usually November through end of March or April..but I do have a favorite pair of black jeans that everyone tells me I look good in and those are what I measure my weight loss with along with the scale..and at time it doesn't seem to sink in that I am losing weight until I can fit in them,..

The jeans I mentioned in this discussion.. I'm preparing to give them away because they're so big on me now. I went clothes shopping this weekend so now I have quite a few pairs of pants that fit well.

Hi. I don't retain clothes which I have no intention of wearing. If I don't like some clothes, I immediately give them to younger sisters or other relatives. Every Christmas season, I donate my unused clothes to the Mangyans - they're the aborigines in our province.

I have a mail order blouse or two that is too small and I was too lazy to return it. Also a couple of dresses I got really cheap on clearance when I was pregnant. I'm going to lose the weight, right? hahahahaha I do have smaller pants around, but motivation to lose weight? Not in the last 10 years or so...

When I was pregnant, I bought around three to five pieces of clothes that were all in my pre-pregnancy body size. It kept me motivated to loose weight and go back to my old body. I lost a significant amount of weight and inches but unfortunately after seven months, I am still ten pounds heavy. The clothes I bought that supposed to serve as my motivation were left in the closet unworn and they are now outdated. I just sold them in one of my garage sales along with all the many clothes I could not wear anymore.

Yep. I also have one pair of Jeans, two skirts, three tops and one dress that I have never worn but refuse to give away. They were given to me and I do hope to follow your example and lose enough weight to get into them. They were all bought for me new and I do love them and want to wear them one day.Have a great night out with husband!

Thanks, the party is Saturday. I'm looking forward to it! I can't wait to see if the outfit fits me better than it did the day I bought it! I hope so.

I don't have any close that I have never worn before but i do have clothes that I have kept from my thinner days in hopes like yourself that I will someday be able to fit into them again. I think there are so many people especially women that have kept that one piece of clothing in the back or the closet or drawer as a motivator to get back to that size. I have been exercising here for the past week in hopes of losing 40 lbs and getting back down to the weight I was when I met my husband and to yes get back into those skinny clothes. A big CONGRATS to you katsmeow on being able to fit into those skinny pants,,,keep up the great work.

I'm also owning clothes and jeans that doesn't fit to me anymore. It is also my motivation to lose weight so I can wear them again. Honestly I tried to lose weight but it is always been a failure. I end up disappointed because up to now the clothes and the jeans doesn't fit anymore. My mother used to tell why I still keeping it if it doesn't fit anymore she said why I don't give it away to our relatives so they can wear it. I don't want to give them away because it is my remembrance.

I don't have any clothes in my closet that I've never worn, the reason being I only buy things that fit me at the time. The motivation for me has always been to be able to fit into my mother's clothing because she's always been a size or two smaller than I am. It was about three months ago that I noticed that my jeans were too big and I decided to try on a pair of her jeans and they still didn't fit me. However, just this past weekend the comment was again made that my pants were too big and I said, "Hey, Mom, can I try on your pants?" She let me and to my surprise, they actually do fit me now. They are a little tight in the thighs, but basically they fit me like the jeans that I bought a year ago fit me when I bought them.

Nope! Very few people give me clothes anymore, because no one knows my size. I am a little too big for the regular stores, but too small for the plus-sized crap. LOL I just like getting money for holidays, so I can buy what i want. If I buy clothes for myself, I try them on in stores, and don't buy them unless they fit.

I am sure I have clothes around I've never worn or only worn once or twice. It's not so much because I can't fit into them, but that I didn't like the style, etc, or I guess, yes, that I bought them too small... so in that respect, I could not fit into them. Also I've had clothes too big as well, but in any case, I have jeans that I recently were able to fit back into but I still have a ways to go!

Hey kats! Good for you! I have clothes in so many sizes and am afraid to get rid of any of them! My weight has gone up and down throughout the years so I am afraid to throw anything out thinking that maybe someday I just might fit into those pants again! I know it sounds kind of crazy, but my weight really does fluctuate so much that I never do know when I might be able to fit into something that I use to wear three years ago! I had lost some weight recently and now I seem to be back to gaining! But, I never give up and neither should you! So good for you! Keep up the good work and maybe you will soon fit into those pants perfectly again!

I dont have such clothes because no one has given me anything lately .However I have clothes that were too tight or didnt fit me too well but I normally put them down and wait until a time when an event comes up that I can wear them to.I may have them for a while but I usually wear them after a time. And if there is no event to wear them to ,I normally wear them in my yard

I read a magazine, and I saw an article how you will know you gain weight or not..The solution is,in your clothes or pants... When the pants was not fitted you well,it means you gain weight.. Still, this true, because I still using this technique whenever I want to know when I get fat..-

I actually bought several clothes that I thought is pretty. But every time I wear it I don't fell comfortable in it. So when mudslide devastated our province those unused clothes was buried under the mud....
