Pedicurists and manicurists ... how do you show appreciation for their services?

Women, or even men, go to beauty parlors/salons for pedicure and manicure. Most people go to their regular pedicurists/manicurists because of good customer service. Some regular manicurists/pedicurists even include slight massaging of both hands and feet. How do you show your appreciation for the good services they have done to you? Do you tip them or just pay the required salon fee and go off?

Tipping for personal services is a hobby for me. This has added advantage too. When I go to a regular salon for hair cut I am given special attention. Once I had to leave for outstation and I couldn't reach the salon before their closing time and so I sent text message to my hair dresser and he came home after his shop closed. I have been getting such types of personal touches from my regular restaurants, hotels, hair-salons,cabbies and so on. What goes around comes around.

Thank you for your consideration. Apart from the tips that I give them I make friendship with them very easily and it remains for life. For me good friendship is more important than money. Thanks once again. Have a nice time now and ever.

Oh, yes. You are so right there, Meapas. The parlor attendants are always happy to see you every time you come in for their service. They always remember customers who are kind and generous to tip them. I really enjoy this special attention, too. In the past where circumstances prevented me to be out and very visible outside the house, my beautician and manicurist did a home service for me. Aside from the tip, they were also treated to supper.

Hi, amyson. Thanking the manicurist for doing a good service to us is already something to her. Even if it is her job, it makes someone feel good when the efforts are appreciated. Leaving a tip is appreciating a manicurist for a good service. Yes, on special occasions, Christmas usually, I may not give a gift to her but I give a very generous amount to her on that occasion. I give "extra" extra as I know she needs money to celebrate Christmas.

One should always tip for extra service.

Hi, bellis. Yes, we should do that especially if they really do it well. Most salon beauticians, manicurists and pedicurists take care of their customers. They do it so that the customers come back to them for their service. An extra thing they usually do when doing your nails is massaging your feet, legs and hands. It is so relaxing. It is always worth to give them tip.

I usually give a tip and make her my permanent manicurist.

Hi, triplejazzm. Yes, we all like to give them tip. That is especially so when they do the service well. If we like the service, we always come back to that particular beauty parlor. And we always look for the particular person who did services for us well. They pay particular attention to us and we make them our regular or permanent parlor attendants.

As for any good service I will leave a tip. Depending on how the service was is what percentage of a tip I will leave. Also, know that it is closer to the holidays I tend to tip a little more generously. Salon workers do not make anywhere close to what they charge for the services and are required to be licensed or certified. That cost the person doing the service not the salon so I try to keep that in mind when leaving my tip.

beauty salon - pedicurist doing work on the nails
Hi, sleepylittlerose. It has been customary here to leave a tip for any service. The beauty salon attendants always expect something extra from the customers. I know they only get little from the salon owners. Some salon owners here do not even follow the minimum wage law and these attendants are not even enrolled in the Social Security System or health insurance. I always give a tip to whoever is attending to me. If I am new to the salon and I am not satisfied with the service, I do not go back for any service again in that salon. I have my regular manicurist/pedicurist and I always give a generous amount to her.

Hi. I love going to a salon and have my nails done. I give them tips to show my appreciation to the pedicurists/manicurists. During the Christmas season, I also give tokens or gifts to my regular pedicurists/manicurists.
