A statistic one would not have known about Indian Cricket.

Friends in 1983, we won the limited over Prudential Cup, in 2007, we won the inagaural 20-20, and finally in 2009, we are the number 1 in test cricket. No other country has done all this. Australia, was the number 1 in both test and 50 overs, but not in 20-20.The same goes for the rest of the cricket playing countries. Has anybody thought about this statistic.

Thats and interesting trivia but whats the big deal about it? The team that was the ODI world cup winner is a history, not even a single player from that team is in the team now, maybe the selector Srikanth is still contributing to the team in his role. The team that won the T20 world cup in 2007 has lost 7 of the last 10 T20 matches they have played. and the team is not going to play many tests in the coming year. Just 2 tests in the next 11 months so the number1 ranking is going to be a short affair too. What this stats says is that the team is not consistant. When it does well in one version of the game it flops in another. And to really be proud of that stats the team has to be doing well in all forms of the game. I wish the team good luck for the coming series and hope it does well in whatever version of the game it gets to play.

Pooja, tell me in which sport are we No.1, except Chess and upto a level billiards and snookers, we are are nowhere near the top in any sports, so when we become in all three forms of cricket, which no other country has done, even the mighty Aussies, have not won the 20-20 world cup, let us savour this moment.

I don't say we should not celebrate. All I am saying is lets celebrate the no. 1 ranking in tests and not for a statistic which really doesn't have much meaning today. What we achieved in 1983 and 2007 was celebrated well at that timeand today we should celebrate todays achievements. just blowing things out of proportion has been done very well by the Media and we do not need to assist them in this. Because the more dear you make things to be the more hurt you get when you lose them. and as I said earlierthe No. 1 rank is not going to stay for long as we wont be playing many tests soon. So lets be happy and celebrate the achivements in Test cricket and hope team does well in other forms of the sport too.

India is brilliant team, but they do struggle in seem pitches, Every department is nice, but India need one genuine fast bowler. Otherwise nothing bad in team. Nobody in world is perfect, it not possible to win and performance in every game. No cons. lol!
