It bothers me that the only person in the whole world that could earn the peace prize is the head of a country involved in not just one war but two. I don't feel this reflects well on humanity. How do you feel about this?

What bothers me more is that he was nominated before he had even been sworn into office and hadn't accomplished anything of note except write a couple of books. The award was either an expression of racism (he deserves it because he's the first black prez) or a sort of blackmail that says "live up to this or be disgraced" or there could be another reason. But the man didn't deserve it, had not earned it.

By the way Yasser Arafat, a terrorist, won the prize in 1994 during the height of his nefarious activities--by that time he had a network to do the evil deeds for him. Al Gore won it for his phony climate change hoax but I'm not sure if he knew it was phony or not but he uses more energy in a couple hours than I use in a year--and that's on a day he doesn't use his private jet. The Prize used to be something to be proud of but it's become more and more political.

I don't think it was racism, after all it is an international prize. I do know they don't award it every year so I really can't understand why Obama got it. I haven't read his books maybe there was something there?n I also feel the prize has diminished in importance.

What disappoints me is that it is premature for sure. We should have given him time and seen what happens. He might very well deserve it in the long run. But giving it to him at this point, I think that is just absurd.

yes it is sad to hear so, but still there must be some reasons behind it for sure...these prizes are not given solely on reputation or power....

That is not what I am implying. I just say, it was given prematurely.

The news of Obama being granted the Nobel Prace prize came to me as shocking as I had no idea of him doing anything at all in this respect. I think the people who granted him this award have a few possible reasons: 1. They are pure morons. 2. They have some big money to earn from it 3. It's more behind this decision than it seems - it is a purely political decision. There was, however, even a more shocking news to me, when I learned that some people were suggesting that this award must be granted to Michael Jackson.

I thought it was interesting at the time. The Nobel committee basically gave the prize to Obama based on the fact that he had started taking steps that could eventually lead to peace. To me that's like awarding an Olympic gold medal because somebody has trained really hard leading up to the Olympics. You're supposed to get an award based on results, not on potential.

You are talking about Mr.Obama.. right? Giving prestigious awards become very fashion.. and politics involved in it.. so whatever we bother... not one is ready to hear us...

He is not the President that got us into these two wars. So I really don't have a problem with him getting the Nobel Peace prize. If there is any President that can bring the countries together in unity it will be him. After all Bush was the one that alienated us from the world because of his horrible 8 years as President and starting two wars one in Iraq which should never have happened. We have lost thousands of men and women due to Bush's stupidity. The amount of lost lives in this war is more then we lost on 9/11.

It is not that the States was involved in two wars. If being a leader of a country that was involved in wars, no matter if they are just or unjust, disqualifies him from getting the Peace Price then Canada that had people in the Two World Wars, the Korean WAr, the Afghanistan War, etc, should also be disqualified and of course even the country in Europe that was invaded by the Nazis in World War II and only those peaceful countries that maybe compromised their views to avoid being run over or having to fight would be qualified. Not a good idea. What upsets me is that Obama got the peace price because as well as being media's darling, he said he was going to do something. He had not done anything. Well I am going to be on stage in a concert hall in the future. Does this mean I will win a prize as the best classical singer for what I intend to do?
