Well personally I really do not think it is necessary that a president should ran for a lower position right after her term ends. Although there is no provision that stops a president from doing so but I guess she should step down peacefully and allow the transition of power to the elected new leader. In her actions, it seems that she is also still not contented to what she has done that she still is continuing her political career in the lower house. For sure she will win the elections since she would ran in her hometown and for sure she will be welcome to ran there.

Yes that is true, but rumors has it that there is a hidden agenda for this move of her. It seems that she wants the position badly to at least cover her tracks on the scandals hounding her administration right now. Being an elected congresswoman in her district she would inherit some kind of immunity from legal actions agaisnt her. Although there are those that say that she can still be sued but with the protection of being a congresswoman she could hide in her title for sometime to stall things out in her favor. There is another rumor that she intends to push for charter change and aim for a unicameral body where if she accomplishes it she could aim for the prime minister position which would be like a president again. having large numbers of allies in the Congress she can also aim for the speakership of the house.

Exactly. She is so selfish, she is not contented really of what she has achieved. Why not give others the chance to show their capabilities to rule the country? I hope she will enlighten and back out from the position. Give chance to others please!

You are correct in the agenda for the unicameral body and prime minister position. However, the immunity does not apply to all legal suits. It is only limited to civil suits. She can still be tried and convicted for the grave criminal offenses she has committed.

Running for a lower position is not what makes it shameful. What makes running shameful is that after all the scams and controversies she still has the balls(well she has no balls) to run for another position. Totally shameless!

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Her tolerance to the recent Maguindanao slaughter always gets on my nerves. Her role as a president should always come first before her party. How could she ignore the mass murder done by her party mate? Come on people, think of this before you decide on voting for her to the congress. . . She may be intelligent but she's got no conscience.

Yes i agree with you. Maybe she wants to regain her power and cover up all her bad records. I will never believe in all her promises, people if you still remembered last presidency elections that she said 'I will not run for president" but what happen she still run. Where is her word of honor? She is fooling the people.

it may look downgrading but if we try to analyze more, obviously she's just after the immunity. there's a lot of issues to answer after her term and she might end up with the same experience as erap. behind bars! i have a strange feeling with the martial law though.

Really so obvious. She wants immunity because of the many cases she will be facing if she has no power in the government. She needs it to stay in power and push through their plans to have a parliamentary government. with regards to the martial law i also have strange feeling about it, but thanks to God it was already lift up the other day.

She wont gain immunity simply by being a member of the congress. What a congressman is immune from are civil suits not from criminal suits. The moment that she steps down from office is the time of her downfall. Well, the only way she could be saved is if the next president is her watchdog.

The action of the President is a kind of foolishness. Because all people dream to be in higher position the office of the President. But what a shameful for a President run for local position... This is one of the plan of the Arroyo, government to retain her in office...

She is just playing safe obviously. Of course she is confident to win in her area because all her opponents are just ordinary person as compared to what she has. So obviously she will win and still have the access to take part in the government policies as well. The question is why she has to run? She has already gained power for 9 years and her son is already in the position but give his way for her mother meaning there is an underlying agenda for it.

Yes, you right. Because if there is no other hiding agenda with her candidacy I don't think she run in that position where this is immoral for the President to be in that place. Even do she is allow to run but this for delicadeza but she is protecting her on the second coming burst of charges against her after she not being a President...

She is really playing and fooling the people. I hope she will not win in the election and we should pray that the truth will prevail no matter what. All we need to fight against them is to pray that people will be able to see the reality and follow what is best for the country not for a smaller individual who could benefit them.

I 'm also not in favor for her to run in any government position. I want her to rest. She has already the money. What more to run? It's because of the many cases to face the moment that she has no more position in the government. I hope the truth will prevail and they will be punished soon.

She is just toying with the Filipino people. She is aiming to become a representative for what? to become the speaker of the house and then, like manny villar, would speed track any impeachment complaint filed against the incumbent president or amend the constitution so that she becomes the prime minister (supreme chancellor, perhaps like Hitler).

All GMA wanted was to prolong her term in any government office so that there is immunity. She is in no way different from the Prime Minister of Italy. I hope she doesn't have to wait till someone hits her on the face.

For me that's not a problem, if she want to be a congresswoman well that was her discussion, the problem is she twisted the rules of the constitution, if you are having a position in the government and you want to run for another position whether it is lower or higher you must file your resignation, is it right?

No. That is not a necessary condition. The constitution even protects the president from leaving her position before her term ends. The purpose is to ensure stability in the government. There is no twisting of the rules in relation to this issue.
