What is the best technique on driving traffic to a website?

Guys, can you tell me aside from forums and networking, what are the best methods on driving traffics to website? I really need to drive thousands or even millions of traffics. There are lots of internet users in the worlds therefore i know the million traffic possibility is high, but the problem is how can i drive traffic?

This is a problem my partner and I are dealiong with now. The internet market has changed over the years, quite drastically.
At the moment we use Safelists, submitters, surfing and an auto responder to get us traffic.
It really isnt enough at the moment and we are trying to find ways to increase traffic.

You are right about that, the competition nowadays are really tough! And i am really having a hard time making my site visible to top 10 results on search engines. How i wish there is really a best way to do this. Anyway, thanks for sharing, have a great day.
