Global warming

How much of what we are told about global warming is actually true? I don't really believe what we are told; that its caused by us " factorys and Range Rovers" i think that is a load of rubbish, they've told us so they can put taxes and fuel prices up. Think about it though, its not actually been proven properly, they tell us polar bears are dying, but its just a little green geek somewhere who has said this. Yes we have seen videos and pics of ice melting at the poles, but these are little pics and vids they are showing us compaired with the 1000's of square kilomitres there is not melting. And sea levels are rising? Yes thats because its always f**king raining! Even if global warming is happening, what are we supposed to do about it? For example; if my boss sells his Range Rover sport or my uncle sell his BMW 335i and they buy a sh**ty Toyota Prius, this will not save a polar bear nore will it save Blackpool from drowning in ?? years time. Whatever is happening is happening theres nothing we can do to stop it...let nature take its toll!

Hi brooxy, I got to agree with you bud. There's been so many lies and falsehoods coming from Washinton, how you supposed to know what is true and what's not. Looking at the way things have always been before, earth has always evolved and changed. Granted, we could clean up our act. But when the Government sees a way to get into our wallets they'll come up with a way to make it our fault and our responsibility to pay out the yingyang to prevent something that's going to happen whether we pay or not.

What really got me broox was that you guys have to buy a license to watch tv...I thought it was a joke at fist....

Is the US government as bad as the Uk then? Gordan Brown charges people £400 a year for road tax on a 4x4. But thank guys i'm glad someone thinks the same way as me..

Thank you! I think it's monumentaly arrogent and stupid to believe we puny humans can have that great an effect on our climate. Cripe, a volcano spews out more green house gasses in a single burp than we humans do in a decade. We might as well try to extinguish the sun for all the effect our efforts have. I'm not saying we shouldn't take care of the planet, don't litter, don't put poisonous junk in the air and water, mid our resources, etc. But for pete sake people, get off the man made "global warming" hype. Climate change was going on long before us humans showed up and it will continue long after we are gone. the earth doesn't care one bit we are here, it will do what it does in spite of us.

Um, this guy said that the sea levels are rising because it rains all the time. Do you believe that? Come on, you're a smart guy, xfahctor. Though you might not believe in global warming, let's at least call out the bunk!

You'll laugh at this one then X in light of paying to watch TV, it is in fact the only unpaid bill which can land you in prison in the UK. Being in debt is not a crime there but not paying the tax to watch TV can land you in prison where you can watch the TV free of charge.

Well, global warming is a fact - it is happening - polar ice caps are shrinking, glaciers are speeding up and falling into the sea/ocean faster than they have in the past, and entire shelves of ice are breaking off of the Antarctic forming huge icebergs that threaten shipping lanes as the icebergs migrate and break up(one is headed toward Australia at this time). Some species are dying out or becoming extinct while others are trying to migrate. "And sea levels are rising? Yes thats because its always f**king raining!" - It is raining more in some areas because there is more available water to evaporate in the air (ice doesn't evaporate). Other places are entering into very severe drought conditions and are drying up. Like you, I do not believe global warming is being caused by our pollution. I do believe that our air pollution is speeding up the current cycle of global warming so that it is occurring at a more rapid rate than it would naturally. I also believe it is too late to have any significant impact; even if every person on the planet was suddenly gone and all of our technology ceased to exist. Global warming would still continue. The problem is that politicians do not like to tell voters that "there is nothing they can do about it"; so, they claim something could be done about it if people would just ............... Then, they can blame the people who failed to take enough action and the politicians can get reelected. What they really need to do; is start concentrating on helping people cope with the results of global warming - improve drainage for areas that are getting severe constant rain storms, desalinization plants to help areas that are drying up and turning to desert(unless they can figure out a way to take the extra rain and ship it to those areas), relocation plans for people in areas that are sinking into the oceans, crops that can survive the new weather conditions so people will still have food, and relocation of species into new areas that better meet their environmental needs.

Thank goodness, SOMEONE is paying attention out there! The truth is, that our sun is burning hotter, hence heating the planet. The emissions the "we" produce are far LESS harmful, given the size of dear old Earth. It would take many, many, many, more years to produce the heated effect that we've been TOLD to believe..."Eek that will destroy us all!" E-gad! Going "green", is fine but really won't make that much of a difference. Now, if the science community could figure out a way to turn down the sun's thermostat, then maybe we'd get somewhere. Unfortunately.......??? Too bad government officials can't get figure THAT little bit of grade 5 science out. cdrxo

I really can't understand that you people are actually aware about Global Warming? It is a fact that we are the MAIN CAUSE FOR GLOBAL WARMING. We are absolutely repsonsible for polluting the Ozone layer and other things and we have to bear the respnsibility for that. It is just because of the co2 emissions that is being created by us, we have been pushed to this level. We are cutting down the trees which is another important factor that causes global warming. We are the guilty beings for all these things and we can definitely stop it by resorting to pollution conrol measures. I was really awestruck after seeing the discussion that we can do little to prevent the global warming.

Hi brooxy, well there's definitely climate changes afoot without doubt and there are human measures which can be taken which just make more sense all round, such as not wasting electricity and other energy sources, thus adding less to pollution if nothing else. But taxing as the way forward is not the right way to address this. We've got, possibly, this stupid new law coming out here next year where if we don't replace a car more than ten years old with a new one then we'll be forced to pay double the car tax. So who is getting rich out of that one. Those with the funds to buy brand new cars are going to pay less tax than those of us who run older cars. Yet these same older cars are passing the strict emissions tests which are part of the MOT. So whilst I do think there may be something in global warming as there is no denying climate change, fixing laws through tax is not the right way forward.

Hi, Nature is nature. It has its own remedy for us.If we do somthing against the natural balancing of our planet then we only suffer no one else.we had seen Nature giving us tsunami and many frightful diseases.we now hav to find solutions and curing methods for these.Definetly this is in our own hands. It is not like if one does he is safe.Every individual should think and introspect about how much we are not doing things which can cause disasters.

In some way I agree with you. Somebody said too that we are not really facing global warming but global cooling. I dont know, some said that all the years of belching since the day 1 of automotive, the emissions just contribute not more than 1%. and the world faced global warming too, way before cars were invented.

yep.. global warning can be seen and can be experienced right now.. and its getting worse.. i remember when i was in grade school when the month of december comes, you can feel cool breeze.. but now december go to the city you can feel a hot ambience and also hot air.. sometimes its hard to breathe in places like this especially when there is traffic... for me the best resolution is to lessen the usage of plastic materials... and also plant more trees. trees uses carbon dioxide and exails oxygen... its good the humans,,
