When is it NOT good to have referrals?

I just heard this and dont know how true it is but what I heard is in some of the "higher paying" PTC sites such a clickvista which pays five cents per ad and have something like 40 or more ads per day, the more members they get the lower the per click goes. CV just lowered the pay rate from 5 cents down to 3 cents, and a few other sites owned by the same owner followed. Just my luck, I found these great legit sites but once again Im late getting to the party. Just wondering if anyone else heard this. It might be better if we stop busting our butts getting referrals.
