Is there a differance between them as far as length of time? Anything else? Hubby bought us a super sized toaster oven that has a convection option on it and I don't know much about it. So could someone please enlighten me on the differances please.

I have a friend who loves to cook, I swear he could be a chef if it didn't require certification. When they redid their kitchen, he chose to have a combination oven that had convection option and it cooks more quickly than the regular. He says it also keeps meats juicier and seals in the flavor. Everything he makes is delicious so I can't tell but he's very happy with his!

What I am told is that a convection oven can reduce the cooking time by about 30 percent. I have a convection oven and it also automatically reduces the oven temperature by 25 degrees Fahrenheit from what you initially set it at, to compensate. I don't really get that, but that is what it does. I do find that the convection setting does a nice job or getting things brown and crispy. I should use it more often!
