Corned beef is one of my favorite but no matter how I tried cooking it my best, it just doesn't taste right. I can say that I know how to cook and is confident in experimenting with recipes. However, when it comes to corned beef, i am losing my magical cooking flare.
I bought corned beef last week and it is still sitting right there in my fridge. Anyone knows any best way to cook corned beef? I prefer the saucy type. Thank you so much. :-)

One thing you need to do is soak the corned beef in water for about four hours, then drain the water and run fresh water and soak it again for about another four hours. This will leech a good portion of the salt out of it before you cook it. Then, you put the corned beef on to cook and simmer it for several hours before you add carrots, potatoes, and cabbage. You also can add pepper corns to the corned beef before you simmer it...the pepper corns add a bit of spiciness to the corned beef.
I had a friend that thought he could cook, bought a corned beef and just slapped it in the pot and cooked it. It turned out salter than eating salt out of the box. He did nothing but complain about it. I made a corned beef like I wrote above and he about went nuts over it and ate the whole works in one sitting. He couldn't believe how good it was and how tender it turned out. The two things to keep in mind is to soak the salt out of it and the other is to cook it slowly so that the flavor stays in and it becomes tender.
Hope I've helped some.

Hello, Loverbear. THanks for the tip. I really don't need to soak the corned beef since corned beef here are not that salty. Some even taste bland.:-) I'll skip the soaking perhaps and follow some of your tips.
Thank you for sharing some tips. Have a Merry Christmas.:-)

Tyler Florence is one of my favorite chefs. This is his recipe for corned beef and cabbage which I have made several times. It is always a huge hit in my house. I promise you that if you follow recipe, it will be a success. Good Luck and Enjoy.

Hi, eurekafemme. You can try adding onions, bell peppers, pepper and garlic in it to see how it will taste. This is not one of my favorite kind of foods. But you can try these added ingredients to see if this will taste good for you. I am glad that you like it. I am sorry that I can't say the same about me.

here are some ways we cook our corned beef.
1. cook it with potatoes, chopped, add onions and garlic. saute garlic in cooking oil, then onions, then potatoes and the corned beef. you can add some water to make it saucy. and don't forget to add some soy sauce or fish sauce.
2. you can beat some eggs, then add it to corned beef, then fry. something like omelet.
3. you can cook it with okra. do the number 2 option. slice okras length wise. remove the seeds and put some corned beef mixed with egg. then fry.
