Gay by choice or by genes?

Are people born gay by genetics or is it their choice to be gay? There are some research being done that claim that it is genetics. But there are also some people who argue against that research and say that it's impossible to be born gay and it is by choice in life. So which one is it? My other question is if someone is gay, either by choice or by genes, does that mean that they are going to hell? It's kinda weird thinking that a person is born gay, and if that person is Christian, they are saying God made them gay, which is contradicting the beliefs. This is so confusing. Im so excited to see the responses!

I don't know the answer to this question. But am more partial with the "by choice". As of now, I'm trying to analyze a friend whether he is straight or not. The explanation that I can give is that he is different because of the environment he is in. And I don't think that just because a person is not straight, he will go to hell. It is not his fault if his orientation during his childhood is different.

I saw some documentaries saying gays and lesbians are directly changed because of the environment they are in since child. i don't really know if it's true though...

That's true. So in a sense it is by choice then. Environment has something to do with it too. But what if you are gay or lesbian before? Can you change your orientation because of the environment? Could it maybe be both choice and genes? haha
