Do any women collect coins?

Hi, my name is Violet and I'm a coin collector. Some of my friends think that's weird. They think that coin collecting is kind of a nerdy hobby and they think it's weird that a woman would be into that hobby, but I don't care. I like it!
I have some rare coins and some old coins from other countries that I like a lot. I just recently finished getting a state quarter from every US state ( http://www.statequarterguide.com/ ). I like the old Chinese coins with the hole in the middle. They're not worth too much, but you can make a necklace out of them which can be kind of cool and a nice conversation starter.
So I was just wondering if there were any other women out there who were into coin collecting or if I was the only one!

they're quite nice things to collect. i don't collect anything seriously but i have kept a handful of particularly attractive or old coins from other currencies. incidently i have a variety of other (small) bits and pieces such as stamps but nothing that could actually be termed a collection.

Hi Violet! I don't know if I'd consider myself an avid collector, but I do tend to hold onto some coins. I also just completed 2 collections of the state quarters. My father, who is definitely a coin collector, said I wasted my time because I didn't divide them by mints. lol. I collected them just to collect them! I don't care what mint they're from or how the value of my collections will be hindered by that. lol. I've got some buffalo head nickels, wheat pennies, Susan B. Anthony dollars, Kennedy 50cent pieces. Some things, I must admit, I'm hanging onto for my kids' kids. Hopefully they'll have a little value that might help them out in the future. I've got some with Eisenhower on them but don't remember the denomination. I have a few coins from parts of Europe that my Mom gave me after her trips there. I have some Argentine coins because I currently live there. All in all, I'd say I have a couple hundred. I haven't looked at them in a very long time so I just might have to dig them out this weekend and take a look! lol. Who knows what I may find!
