Do you like personalised mail?

I work in Marketing and my job involves sending out a lot of personalised direct mail pieces. So I can clearly see the benefit of personalisation - i.e. the order form is already filled in with the adress details and the offers might be targeted to what the individual person usually buys. Fact is - it increases the number of people responding and buying! But as a consumer I am not so sure. With identity fraud being a constant risk we spend a lot of time shredding all the literature which includes our name prior to throwing it out. And do I really want companies to look at my purchase pattern and tell me what they think I need next? What do you think - yes or no to personalised mail?
