DONT DO IT!!!!! ive just quit at doing it as i was losing money rather than making it like someone else stated you only make money if you have a whole load of customers waiting, which i didnt, I worked with avon for 3 months and ended up only getting about 17 pound in profit!! Plus if you dont have your own customers avon only give you so many streets to start off with and if you only get 2 customers on all those streets youve posted to you have to wait till the next campaigne to get different streets which nine times out of ten are exactly the same. The way i see it is most of the stuff in avon actually cost twice as much as what youd pay in the shops so most people stick to buying elsewhere sorry to dissapoint!

I sold Avon years ago. I just recently stop selling Mary Kay. To answer your question, it is not a way to make a whole lot of money quickly, unless you have an abundance of customers who buy a lot of products. Most of my customers would purchase certian items when they run out such as lip stick or eye shadow. They did not order larger quantities of items. You earn half of what the sells price of each item sold. So, if someone purchased some lip gloss for $2.00 then you receive one dollar off that sell and so on. I am not sure if it has changed or been updated, but that is how it was when I sold it. Many people purchase Avon products. Its all about the customer and what they need and want at the moment. You have to purchase the bags to place the items in when you sell the items and the order sheets to track the customers order. After you run out of your starter kit order sheets. If you are a people person and enjoy being around and talking to people, then this will be great for you to make a little extra cash on the side. It all depends on the person selling the items and the customers. My model is to try it for yourself, because everyone is going to give their opinions from experience or from what they heard. Its a good experience. It just wasn't making me the money I needed at the time.

That is what I was kinda of worrying about, too much work and not enough profit! Plus I don't have a army of people to sell to! But still I want to go into business for myself, just wish I knew which businesses are legit and actually make money. Thanks for the info.

Hi brooklyngrl, I'm so happy you started this discussion because I have answers for you! My best friend/room mate just signed up for Avon on Monday, it was $10.00 to start and you can strictly do it from home. We are living in California, we recently moved out here in September from Rhode Island and the Avon lady who came to our apartment to tell her more about it and sign the contract papers told her that nobody in our area is doing Avon. This is great news for my best friend because the apartment manager at the complex we live in told us that someone use too do it and make really good money but than she stopped doing it. Apparently it's quite popular around here and for no one else doing it, that's not very common. You can make money, you make 40% of every sale you make I believe that's what she said, but you can contact Avon and your local representative will e-mail and/or call you and set up an appointment. It's better if you do have a car since their are meetings you need to attend every so often, now my room mate doesn't have one right now but if she needs a ride it can be arranged she was told. They also have a website that you can have just to yourself where anyone from anywhere can buy from you and it can be directly shipped to them, you also receive a discount on products as well and their great discounts. I plan on helping on helping her out but only her name is on the actual account. I believe eventually you have to pay for the website or you might have to for the first month until someone buys off of you on it, it's $7.00. I know she said if someone orders over $200.00 worth of products you have to pay the difference but I don't know many people who spend that much on Avon lol, that's a lot of money! Especially with the current economy. My friends mom use to do it and make good money she's only a waitress so she could use the extra cash and it helped they give you the magazines and you can bring them to your job and tell family and friends as well. Her sister recently started doing it in Rhode Island and she's having fun with it. The rep who came to our apartment makes good money she said she does it full time along with a regular full time job. I'd definitely look into it if I were you, it's a great opportunity to make money from home and get returning customers which will help you make even more money. You can make even more money by becoming a leader for your district she mentioned that too. Any other questions just ask, myself or my room mate might be able to answer them for you or you can always contact Avon and let them know your interested.
