No way, I am a Muslim from Pakistan. I am sorry to disagree with you but God is almighty he is clean for Human type needs according to Islam "He is Allah, the One and Only! Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him". Another place our holy quran teach about God. "Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave ? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous"
& the whole earth know Muslims Holy Books is truth You know why??? whole humanity altogether & change the word of our Holy Quran but they don't Because the God is the Guardance of this Holy Book.
have a nice day.
my response means not force you to accept Islam but just tells you the truth.

I think you would be better off offering the food to hungry people. I know many cultures offer food to their deities out of respect and love but God, whatever you imagine Him to be, wants His children fed and taken care of. If you gave the food to the hungry, it would be the same as offering it to Him.

God does not eat the food we offer. It is to inculcate the habit of sharing and offering that such a ritual has been induced. To put it in humor - If god were to eat all the offerings of his devotees he may end up with stomach ache or indigestion. The moment people know that god eats the food they offer you can see nobody will practice this ritual under some excuse or other. We feel happy when we offer food to god before we eat as we believe that his blessings are with the food offered and it will not harm us. It is actually a positive approach and there is no harm in doing so. I offer cooked rice to god daily and keep for the crows or birds. This way we are feeding others before we have food.
Happy mylotting.

It not that God eats food.. It to show love towards GOD.. Treating GOD with the same love which you expect when being treated by someone..
In all religions, GOD sends prophets and messengers and sons..
Its in the Hinduism, the Almighty GOD will come as a Living being and stay among us to show the GOD's Love towards the Humanity..

HI,
My religion is also from India... you know what I mean. well, as far as I know... God doesn't eat food... it is just your habit to offer before you eat everyday. Eating is something make you full but it will make you lazy, and God is not like that. Remember the first time a price became a God? he tried so hard not to eat but then he got sick, so he realized that he had to eat in order to complete his journal. Once he gone then more lazy, no more pain and no more crave for anything. Well you are Indian, and you may be heard about this story from grandparents or so... and I heard it from my mom

Does the food ever get eat'n? If so then maybe he does. There is a saying in Christianity that goes something like "whatever you do for mine you do for me." That's why Christians give gifts to each other on Christmas, cause its like giving a gift to Jesus. So maybe putting food out for God, is like leaving food out for someone who is starving. You feed that person, and you are feeding God in a sense.

that ritual of giving food to the gods is just a symbolism but it doesnt mean that the gods will eat your offerings. though i find this ritual kind of irrational. i know some poor people who will cut in half their remaining food just to have something to offer to their gods at the end of the day, most of their children are hungry while the food they offered to the gods are rotting and wasted.

I think it's a symbolic gesture to give food to God. I don't know much about Indian culture. I can't comment on their beliefs. I don't think other cultures have the answer either. Is God a physical being like humans? or something more complex? Nobody knows for sure so no answer can be definite.

I am not Indian, but from what I know of your culture from growing up with others who share your culture I think that the offering of food is symbolic. Much like the Christians and Jew thanking God for their food, or the Native Americans offering up certain parts of a kill to their gods. When these religions came into existence the most important and valuable item a family or person had was food. To offer it to your religious deity is to give of your most precious life substance. For many countries food is no longer a hard worked for necessity. Many can go to a store or market and buy what they need ,no growing, raising, butchering or anything else. Yet the traditions stand, I think because all though we take food for granted we know deep down with out it no one could survive. I guess when it comes down to it the old saying of "it's the thought that counts" applies.
