the comelec has trimmed down the candidates for president for next year's national elections to eight. read the complete details here, http://ph.news.yahoo.com/star/20091215/tph-comelec-approves-only-presidential-b-541dfb4_1.html. i think the list will further be reduced as we near the elections. i seriously doubt the capabilities of one or two names there in the list to go full throttle in a nationwide campaign. now, here's my question to my fellow flipino mylotters, if you were to further trim down this list to two presidential candidates who would you likely vote as president, who will be those two presidential candidates be? let's have an intelligent discussion ladies and gents. my two candidates would be brother eddie villanueva and senator richard gordon. i think those two are viable candidates who can inspire and lead our country to a better tomorrow. the rest have flaws that are too d@mning too ignore. not saying that these two are perfect but just saying they are the lesser evil in these very crooked world that is philippine politics. hope to hear your thoughts. cheers!!!

I am with Gordon or Gibo... Gordon-- his track record dating back from subic days to tourism and being a senator, he is for me an A rate. Gibo-- well, i admire his intelligence and in his decision-making. With his intelligence, I think there will be no room for advisers who will lead him to he wrong direction. I also wanted Binay to be the President, if only he ran for the position-- the way he handles Makati in terms of the hospital benefits, education and cleanliness, how I wish he culd transform the entire Philippines the way Makati City is.

hi prettychai! good points you raised there. i really agree with what you said about binay. i have lived in makati with my family for a long time already and i can say that i saw first hand what a great job binay did to makati. it would not be where it is today without binay's vision and leadership. i think him and gordon make a good team. both did very great things in their respective cities, gorodn in olongapo and binay in makati. just a thought. cheers!!!

hello allen, so, this is it. just the eight of them, no more no less. for the moment, i am thinking of gordon for now. as brother eddie, i still don't know about him. am not sure how he handles foreign policy. as for gordon, he's performance and track record are good. i hope he can fulfill his promise.if he wins.

hi lk! still a long way to go to may 2010 so like i said, we may see some changes like candidates droppign out of the race because of various issues. also, others might just altogether quit the race if they see that there is no way that they will win the elections. others take defeat graciously, others not so. just my thoughts. cheers!!!

I'm glad to see another person who is looking at their government and who is elected into office. I'm in America and most people don't care anymore, they think all politicians are corrupt and there is nothing we can do about it. There is, you can demand the same things that are demanded of you, honesty, integrity and putting your childrens futures at heart.

hi gitfiddleplayer! can't blame people who think all politicians are corrupt. politicians from all over the world have done some really inexplainable things to get the bad rep that they have right now. nothing so different here in the philippines. the country is ranked high in terms of corruption. so sad indeed.

hi ybong007! yeah, gordon is definitely in my shortlist. good track record eversince his stint as sbma chair. he handled adversity well as a mayor when the american bases left. looking forward to hear what his platform is. gordon is under the radar right now which is nice. hopefully, others see his achievements as well and not just base their votes because of popularity. just my thoughts. cheers!!!
