Yes!Recently I heard of this black salt.It is said to be good for B.P. patients and it is like the sweetener for sugar patients.Have you ever used it in your cooking at home? Will the taste equals the actual table salt we use normally?

Yes!I read it like that.Like there are sweeteners for diabetic patients, this black salt can be used to substitute the actual white salt we use in the kitchen. And that would not harm like the white salt in rising the blood pressure. But if it is the fact, then doctors would have suggested to use it.So,I have my own doubts and want to clarify here.

Ganesh I have used black salt, but I did not know, that they are useful for B.P. patients. Since I am a hypertension patient, I thank you for the information. Regarding the taste, I do not know, how to put it, but this is a little different from our common salt, and as mentioned by one of our members, this is quite good if it used with fruits like papaya or pine apple. The bitterness in not there.Compared with common salt, the bitterness is little less. I have also used the black salt with lemon juice.

Please cross check that information with your doctor.I am not sure about it.If it is true, then there will be more awareness about this black salt. So,don't run into hasty decisions before clarifying.I will be glad if it is true because I shall need it in the future.

Black salt is soomthing like the normal salt we consume, but has a tangy taste to it. I love the "chatpata" (tangy effect) in some of my food. Like try adding black salt to you side dishes (like kurma) - it really give the food a distinct flavor! I love to add black salt when i cook north india dishes like chat or sabjis :)

Is it?I think it is used more in fast foods for that peculiar taste you have told about. Is it costly compared to the normal salt and is it healthy to use it often? Can we replace the normal table salt with this black salt? How is it beneficial to make a switch over?

Honestly, I haven't heard of it. If it really helps in hypertension, then I should find this for my father and aunts. Thanks for that info.

Hey!I have my own doubts on that idea of being helpful for hypertension. If it is so,the medical world would directly prescribe its use and black salt will be known by almost everybody.Since it is not known well,I have this doubt.May be it can substitute the taste of the white salt but whether it has some medicinal values.....?
