I am so sad

If you haven't seen my last discussion about my loving orange tabby, Nemo, here is the link to it if you are interested: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2195205.aspx My beloved furbaby has gone over the Rainbow Bridge to join Fluffy, the kittens, Meg and the rest of my babies that passed on before. I had such high hopes that Nemo would pull through this and the lacerations and infection in his tongue would heal and he would be as good as new. But no such luck this time. At first after the initial vet visit, Nemo began really eating his food like there was no tomorrow, AND he was drinking water again on his own. And even after the follow up visit and being put on a second round of antibiotics, he really seemed to get back into the swing of being a normal kitty. But then his tongue started really bleeding from the lacerations and the lump (tumor I guess) and he got to the point that he wouldn't drink water and would barely touch his food. And night before last I noticed he was not as warm as he usually is. And yesterday and this morning he was super cold and very listless. He didn't even really put up a fuss when I gave him his liquid meds and his dropper full of water. So I knew it was time for him to go. The vet only had to take one look at him and he agreed with me. So now yet another of my babies is gone...and I miss him so very very much already. It's all I can do not to cry as I'm typing this at the moment. So I think I will stop here and take a break. Thank you to all my loving friends that are here for me...even when I go MIA for long periods of time. I love you all so very very much. If any of you feel a need to speak about your beloved furbabies that have passed on, please feel free to do so. I do not mind at all, and I will be here for you as well. Hugs to everyone.....Carryl

I'm sorry for your loss. My Pumpkin just crossed over Saturday. She was old and suddenly wasn't able to walk or stand. She stopped eating in the end also. My husband buried her with those that have passed before her, blanket, bed and all. I hope she is somewhere doing the things she loved like chasing chipmunks and rabbits. She was 16 years old. The other cats are beginning to get back to normal. Once again, I'm sorry for your loss.

Oh I am so sorry for your loss hon. My Nemo is out next to all the other cats and my Meg beside the house....blanket and all as well. At least our babies aren't suffering anymore. Yours lived to a ripe old age, and that is so awesome. I'm so glad she has a mom as wonderful and caring as you. Thank you so much hon.

I am doing a bit better. Thanks hon. I still look for Nemo up on the top of my headboard...he used to lay above my head and I would play with his toes until he jumped down and snuggled up next to me. Your Jasmine sounds like my kitty Vixie. Vixie pretty much lives in the bathroom because her previous owner had her declawed and it's where she feels safest from the other cats. She's 12 years old now and I worry about them hurting her as well. I would be so lost without her. She acts like the biggest kitten sometimes and it always makes me laugh.

Thanks sweetie. I do hope you are feeling a little better today? I'm blessed by all of my animals, the dogs and the cats. They certainly brighten my day, making me smile, laugh, and sharing their love. One of our dogs, Jasmine, stays here at the shop. She makes me feel better when someone comes in acting ugly. I would be lost without having her here. She is old and arthritic which is why I don't take her home. The others would jump on her, not being mean, but playing and she would be hurt. But we take her out riding now and again. She loves Pet Smart.

Oh Carryl, that's awful news. I'm crying here. I thought Nemo was going to be fine...poor little mite. I'm glad you didn't prolong things. I'm sorry I'm so far behind responding and hope I'm not bring back the sadness for you. We all know that dying is inevitable and our beloved fur babies must pass but when they get sick, the trauma and sadness are worse I think. My own Lucy dog who eats rabidly and is all skin and bone. The vet can't find anything wrong with her and she is still playful and happy and bright eyed but just so dreadfully thin. I think it's mites. Nothing I do seems to affect them so I think it's a seasonal thing for this area where we live and we just have to wait for the cooler weather. Our babies can be such a worry sometimes. Best wishes for Christmas dear friend.

My husband thinks that the infection ended up spreading through his body in spite of the antibiotics. He lost weight sooooo fast...it was shocking. My LittleBit is finally cheering back up again. Nemo was her buddy, and partner in crime and she misses him terribly. So do I, but I'm glad he's not hurting anymore. I hope for your Lucy that mites are all it is. At least she's happy and playful and well loved. You're an awesome mom. Thanks so much hon. Merry Christmas to you and great big hugs.

oh noooo ((((((((((((((((((((((((((Carryl))))))))))))))))))))) I'm so very sorry for you and Nemo. He seemed like he was on the road to recovery, at that. Poor guy to have suffered but you didn't know for cats are really good at hiding their pain and injuries. To think, though, he is now frolicking with all your other furbabies awaiting for you when its time. I'm sure he along with the others, stop from time to time to look down and see what your up to. Dammit..now I gotta stop cause the tears have started. Love ya!

I keep looking for him lying on my bed every morning. But I know he's in a better place. And I'm sure my beloved Meg was ecstatic to see her pal show up to be with her over the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you so much hon. HUGS to you

I heard today at the vet that you should never let cats have the can, because if they cut their tongue, you might as well put them to sleep - YIKES!!! I didn't know that! I'm so sorry to hear about poor Nemo - at least he's not in pain anymore. I know how heart breaking it is to lose a baby ...

Awww--Carryl I'm truly sorry to hear about Nemo especially since from your prior discussion about him he seemed to be doing so well and eating and drinking normally. At least he is no longer in pain and is now frisking about with all the furbabies at Rainbow Bridge. I don't need to tell you, that since I've had cats since I was five years old that I too have had many of my own babies pass on, and the hurt never really goes away. There are some of my former babies who have passed on more than twenty years ago that I still miss

Your discussion has brought tears to my eyes and I am so sorry you lost your beloved Nemo. I relate to your sadness because I lost my beloved boy cat Friday on the 28th November and my heart is broken. I had him for thirteen years and I too did all I could for him but it wasn’t enough because he had lymphoma and we had to have him put to sleep when he could no longer walk. I have a new kitten called Hewy now and although he is a joy I still miss Friday so very much and I wish I could cuddle him again! I did a discussion about Friday; don’t know if you’ve seen it. It has helped to read the supportive responses from some MyLotters. Again I am sorry for your loss and my prayers and thoughts are with you...

I'm so sorry hon for your loss. I'm sure you probably feel the same as I do losing a furbaby...it's like losing a child. But our babies are now pain free and probably terrorizing the place running around together. I haven't been on a lot so I haven't seen many discussions. But I will most definitely look for your discussion hon. Thank you so much and big hugs to you ((((((((((Paula))))))))))

I am so sorry Carryl that your kitty has went over into the next world. May GOD bless you and your kitty. Just remember that one day you will get to be with him again. We get to live forever even though our existence in this life is but a short time.

I thank God that Nemo had a wonderful loving person that took such wonderful care of him. Nothing hurts more than the loss of a beloved furry buddy. I am again facing an anniversary of the loss of two of my fur buddies, Hannibal and Mo; at the hands of my daughter who's only interest was what she wanted. I will sit and cry for them, and for Nemo who had a wonderful human to love and care for him. My tears include tears for the pain that a special lady is feeling at the loss of her beloved furbaby. I send you love, hugs and sympathy from my brood (Murphy, Dinglebeary, Willy, Khuay, Monica, Little Bit, Abby, Ralphie, Harlo, Indy and Jonesy. Take care of you.

I've only just come across this discussion. I'm so sorry to hear about Nemo. Last year we lost our lovely ginger cat Tubbs. He was 18 and had been ill for a while with thyroid problems. Now three months later, I still miss him. He was such a character. He's buried in the garden. We tilled some bulbs around his grave and now the shoots are starting to poke through the ground. It's always so sad when you lose a pet so I'm thinking of you and your Nemo - maybe he will say hello to Tubbs over the Rainbow Bridge! Big hug. Louise.
